The 2021 Mido Ocean Star 600 Chronometer was a subtle update to the brand’s large, steel professional-style diver. The black-dial steel-bracelet version covered here is reference M026.608.11.051.00. Mido specifies a 43.5 mm case, 600 m water resistance and an automatic COSC-certified Caliber 80 with a silicon balance spring and up to 80 hours of power reserve. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
What changed in the 2021 Ocean Star 600 Chronometer?
Mido introduced the updated Ocean Star 600 Chronometer at a Red Bull Cliff Diving event. Monochrome described the release as a new version with subtle updates, but the available launch coverage does not establish a complete, item-by-item comparison with the preceding model. It is safer to treat 2021 as the update’s launch context than to assume every specification was new.
The current official product listing identifies the black-dial steel-bracelet watch as reference M026.608.11.051.00. Mido’s current page is the clearest source for its detailed specifications; it should not be read as proof that every detail changed in 2021. Monochrome’s 2021 launch coverage describes the update and its introduction.

What the size means for fit
At 43.5 mm across, 14.6 mm thick on average and 219 g, this is a substantial watch on paper. Its 22 mm lug width is useful when checking replacement straps, but width alone does not establish compatibility: attachment type and end-link geometry also matter. Mido lists bracelet/strap reference M605017383.
Whether the case feels balanced or sits comfortably depends on the wearer and wrist; the published dimensions cannot settle that. Trying the watch on is the most reliable way to judge fit.

Movement and dive-watch construction
Caliber 80 Chronometer
Mido identifies the automatic movement as Caliber 80 Chronometer and says it has a silicon balance spring, COSC certification, day-and-date functions and up to 80 hours of power reserve. Mido describes the silicon balance spring as a feature of its “next-generation MIDO Caliber 80 Chronometer movement.” The certification and reserve are manufacturer-stated specifications; they are not a report of accuracy or reserve measured for this article.
Case, bezel and water resistance
Mido rates the watch at 60 bar / 600 m and specifies a screw-down crown, helium valve, rotating ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides. These construction details and the depth rating come from the manufacturer. A depth rating by itself does not establish suitability for every dive or replace appropriate equipment and training; the presence of a helium valve likewise should not be taken as a general benefit for ordinary recreational diving.

Price and availability
When checked in 2026, Mido’s international listing showed CHF 1,690 including VAT, and its US listing showed $2,020. Both pages displayed out-of-stock notices at that time. These are regional manufacturer page prices, not confirmed transaction prices, and a stock notice does not establish that the watch is unavailable everywhere or discontinued. Check the relevant regional listing for current status.
The Mido US product page lists the same reference and provides a notification option, a Macy’s shop link and a store finder. Those links do not establish availability through any other retailer.

Who should consider this version?
The published specification makes the black-dial Ocean Star 600 Chronometer a candidate for someone seeking a large steel watch with a high stated water-resistance rating, a ceramic rotating bezel, a chronometer-certified automatic movement and an extended stated power reserve. Its substantial dimensions and 219 g listed weight are important practical considerations, while actual wrist fit remains personal. No direct competitor comparison or independent performance test is established here, so a value or accuracy ranking would go beyond the available evidence.
Keep this reference distinct from blue-dial and other Ocean Star 600 versions when checking specifications, prices or stock. Mido’s official pages establish this product and reference, but not its availability on any specific third-party marketplace.
