Choose the Q Timex GMT TW2V38000 if you want a smaller, battery-powered quartz watch. Choose the Waterbury Heritage Automatic GMT TW2Y93500 if you specifically want a self-winding mechanical movement and are comfortable with a larger case and higher listed price. Neither is the universal winner: the decision is mainly quartz convenience and compact dimensions versus automatic timekeeping and a larger, more feature-rich specification.
These exact models matter. “Waterbury GMT” also refers to quartz variants, so the name alone does not identify the movement or specifications being compared here.

Which watch suits your priorities?
Choose the Q Timex GMT for quartz simplicity and a smaller case
The Q is the more compact option on paper: its case is 3.5 mm narrower and 1.5 mm thinner than the Waterbury’s. It uses a battery-powered quartz movement, so it avoids the automatic model’s need for wrist motion to power the movement. Timex describes the Q as “a natural evolution of our original dive-inspired Q” and says it lets the wearer “set an additional time zone”; those are the brand’s product-page descriptions, not independent assessments.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If a 38 mm case, quartz operation, or the lower captured Timex US list price matters most, the Q is the more direct fit. Wrist comfort and visual fit have not been established by these dimensions alone.
Choose the Waterbury Heritage for an automatic movement and added features
The Waterbury Heritage is the choice if you want a mechanical automatic watch. Timex says its self-winding movement is powered by the wearer’s motion and has an additional 24-hour hand for tracking a second time zone. Timex lists about 41 hours of power reserve, along with luminous hands and markers, an exhibition caseback, and a double-domed K1 mineral crystal with anti-reflective coating.

Its larger 41.5 mm case and 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement are worth considering before buying. The specifications do not establish how it will feel on a particular wrist.
Movement: battery-powered quartz or self-winding automatic?
The Q uses battery-powered quartz; the selected Waterbury Heritage uses a Seiko NH34 automatic movement powered by wrist motion. This is a preference decision, not evidence that one is more accurate or less costly to own: the available product specifications do not establish independent comparative accuracy or long-term maintenance costs. Timex lists an accuracy range for the Waterbury, but there is no corresponding independent, like-for-like measurement for both watches.

Crystal: acrylic or K1 mineral glass
The Q has a domed acrylic crystal. Timex describes acrylic as more scratch-prone but polishable and impact-resistant. The Waterbury uses K1 mineral glass, which Timex describes as having enhanced scratch and impact resistance. Those material descriptions do not guarantee how either crystal will fare in an individual owner’s use.
Water resistance: both are for light swimming, not diving
Both models are rated to 50 m. Timex’s guidance for each is light swimming; neither is presented as suitable for snorkeling or poolside diving. A water-resistance rating should not be read as a recommendation to use either watch as a dive watch.

Bracelet fit and model identity
The Q has an 18 mm lug width; the Waterbury has a 20 mm lug width. Do not assume that a bracelet or strap for one fits the other without model-specific compatibility confirmation.
Also confirm the exact Waterbury reference before buying. Timex’s Pan Am Waterbury GMT listings include quartz models, so “Waterbury GMT” does not necessarily mean the Heritage Automatic configuration described here. For current prices, stock, and specifications, check the exact references: TW2V38000 and TW2Y93500.

Price and what the difference means
In the captured Timex US listings, the Q was $269 and the Waterbury Heritage Automatic was $579, a $310 difference. These are manufacturer-listing snapshot prices, not a comparison of street prices across retailers. The price difference is relevant if you value the Waterbury’s automatic movement and added features; it does not by itself establish that it is a better value for every buyer.
