The Tissot Alpine On Board Automatic Chronograph is an automatic watch built around an unusual idea: its case detaches from the wrist strap and can be secured to a dedicated support on the Alpine A110’s multimedia screen. Alpine documented the concept in 2018; Fratello’s hands-on review identifies the watch as reference T1234271605100. The feature is central to the design, but the published sources do not establish how it performs in real-world driving.
What makes the Alpine On Board different?
Alpine presented the watch as an accessory for the A110. Its 316L stainless-steel case detaches from the bracelet and attaches to a special aluminium frame fixed to the car’s multimedia screen. That turns the watch into a removable dashboard object as well as a wrist-worn chronograph. Alpine’s launch announcement describes the concept and specifications, not a test of mounting security or readability while driving: Alpine’s 3 October 2018 announcement.
Alpine’s promotional tagline was “The watch for today’s gentleman driver.” That is marketing language; the more useful distinction is the detachable case and car-specific support, rather than any independently established driving benefit.

Reference T1234271605100
Fratello identifies the chronograph it reviewed as T1234271605100. Its article reported a German retail price of €1,825 including VAT at the time of publication. That is a historical, market-specific figure, not a current price.
Japanese-announced reference T123.427.16.081.00
In 2020, Swatch Group Japan announced a separate reference, T123.427.16.081.00, as a 516-piece world-limited edition. The Japanese announcement specified a dedicated stand and special box, and a launch price of ¥270,600 including Japanese tax. What to check before buying
Because the watch exists in distinct references and the support is part of its appeal, evaluate the specific offer rather than relying on a generic product description.
- Match the reference on the watch or listing to the variant you intend to buy.
- Ask whether the Alpine support or stand and the special presentation box are included. The 2020 Japanese announcement explicitly includes a stand for its edition; that does not confirm what accompanies another reference or resale listing.
- Confirm the seller, condition, current price and return terms. The cited prices are launch-era or article-era figures, not live quotes.
- If replacing the strap, do not treat the reported 22 mm lug width as proof that any strap or clasp will fit; the cited sources do not identify an authoritative replacement part.
A search of Amazon for the exact reference did not surface a relevant listing, but that is not proof the watch is unavailable. No current stock or seller is established here: Amazon.

What the published material does—and does not—establish
The manufacturer documents the detachable-case concept, A110 screen support, movement, power reserve and water-resistance rating. Fratello supplies the reviewed reference and additional measurements and design details. Neither source, as cited here, establishes mounting performance, on-road legibility, chronograph accuracy, tested water resistance or wearing comfort. Treat the stated 10-bar rating as a manufacturer specification, not a blanket recommendation for every water activity.
