Tissot introduced the Seastar 1000 Quartz 40mm in 2023, adding a middle size between its 36mm and 45.5mm quartz models. The launch collection offered three dial-and-bezel treatments, Swiss Made quartz time-and-date movement, and manufacturer-rated water resistance of 30 ATM (300 metres/1,000 feet). Those specifications describe Tissot’s claims, not an independent test.
When did Tissot introduce the 40mm Seastar 1000 Quartz?
The debut was in 2023, not a new 2026 release. Tissot’s pressroom announcement was titled “Seastar 2023 – 40mm” and positioned the watch as a size between the existing 36mm and 45.5mm Seastar 1000 Quartz models. The brand called it the “go-anywhere 40mm Seastar 1000 Quartz collection.” Tissot’s 2023 announcement is the source for the launch description and specifications.
What configurations were announced?
Tissot described three colorways. The first two pair a lacquered dial with a matching mineral bezel and white detailing; the third uses black with gold detailing.

What are the stated dive-watch specifications?
- Water resistance: Tissot specifies 30 ATM, equivalent in its launch materials to 300 metres or 1,000 feet.
- Bezel: A unidirectional rotating bezel.
- Visibility: Super-LumiNova on the hands and hour markers.
- Movement: Swiss Made quartz, with time and date functions.
These are manufacturer specifications. The launch announcement does not provide independent test results or establish suitability for any particular dive plan. A depth rating should not be treated as a guarantee of performance in every real-world diving situation.
How do the movement and quick-change attachment work?
The quartz movement includes an end-of-life battery indicator. Tissot says it alerts the wearer to replace the battery while it is running low; the announcement does not state a battery-life duration.

Tissot also says the bracelet and straps can be clipped in and out without a tool. That does not establish compatibility with arbitrary 20mm straps or third-party accessories. Confirm the attachment system and compatibility for the exact reference before buying a replacement.

The 40mm Quartz model’s clearest comparison point is case diameter: it sits between Tissot’s 36mm and 45.5mm Seastar 1000 Quartz options. Choosing among them is primarily a matter of preferred wrist presence and fit; the launch announcement does not give a comparative lug-to-lug measurement.

Quartz and automatic Seastar 1000 watches are different movement categories, but Tissot’s 2023 40mm announcement is not a full, current specification comparison between them. Compare the exact references for movement, dimensions, features, and price rather than assuming the automatic version shares every specification or configuration described here.
