Compare the exact reference before buying, especially if you need a particular fit, diving feature or compatible strap.
What is the Tissot Seastar?
Tissot positions the Seastar as a watch collection for use in and out of the water. Its UK collection page lists Seastar 1000 and Seastar 2000 variants and presents a collection-level minimum water resistance of 30 bar (300 m/1,000 ft). That broad collection statement is not a substitute for checking an individual reference: specifications differ across models, and the number of listed results can change over time. Tissot’s UK Seastar collection.
The names “1000” and “2000” do not mean every watch in either line has identical dimensions or features. The examples below are specific references, not universal specifications for their families.
How do the cited Seastar references compare?
| Reference and model | Case size | Movement and reserve | Water resistance and diver features |
|---|---|---|---|
| T1208071105100, Seastar 1000 40 mm automatic (US listing) | 40 mm | Automatic; up to 80 hours of power reserve, according to Tissot | 30 bar (300 m); Tissot lists diver-style features |
| T1206071104101, Seastar 2000 (US listing) | 46 mm | Automatic; up to 80 hours of power reserve, according to Tissot | 60 bar (600 m); ISO 6425:2018 certification and helium escape valve, according to Tissot |
| T1209071704100, Seastar professional automatic (UK listing) | 44 mm | Automatic; up to 80 hours of power reserve, according to Tissot | 60 bar (600 m); ISO 6425:2018 certification and helium escape valve, according to Tissot |
Specifications come from the individual US 40 mm Seastar 1000 page, US 46 mm Seastar 2000 page and UK 44 mm Seastar professional page. Tissot’s stated reserve is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement. The Seastar collection also includes quartz models; confirm the movement on the reference you are considering.

What do the water-resistance ratings mean?
The listed 30-bar and 60-bar ratings are manufacturer specifications expressed with approximate depth equivalents. They describe pressure-test ratings, not a guarantee that a watch can safely be used at that depth in real diving conditions. The rating belongs to the specific watch in its tested condition; age, damage, seals and service history can affect water resistance. A depth figure alone therefore cannot establish that a particular used or unserviced watch is safe for immersion.
The 60-bar rating, ISO 6425:2018 certification and helium escape valve are listed for the two cited Seastar professional references above. Do not assume those features apply to every Seastar 1000 or every Seastar 2000.

Which Seastar size or movement should you choose?
Choose by the exact case size
The cited Seastar references range from 40 mm to 46 mm, with a 44 mm professional variant in between. Case diameter is a useful starting point, but it does not establish how a watch will sit or feel on your wrist. If fit matters, try the exact reference where possible rather than treating one Seastar as a stand-in for another.
Choose the movement you want
The references compared here are automatic, while the broader collection includes quartz options. The available official specifications establish movement type and, for the cited automatic models, a reserve of up to 80 hours. They do not establish comparative accuracy, durability or ownership cost, so base those decisions on the exact model information and your own priorities rather than assuming one movement type is inherently better.

Match features to your use
If you specifically want the listed 60-bar rating, ISO certification and helium escape valve, compare the exact 44 mm and 46 mm professional references. If those features are not requirements, a 30-bar Seastar 1000 may be a closer match. Neither a collection name nor a depth-equivalent rating alone is enough to decide whether a watch suits your intended use.
How to find a compatible Seastar strap
Tissot’s strap guidance is reference-based. A strap that appears to match by width alone may not be compatible, so identify the watch reference—Tissot says it can be found on the case back—before ordering. The cited product pages describe interchangeable options, but that does not establish that every Seastar strap fits every Seastar reference.

Warranty, service and buying checks
Confirm the seller and warranty status
Tissot says its watches are sold through its authorized retailer network and official online boutiques. Its US warranty information describes a 24-month international warranty subject to validity conditions, including activation by an official Tissot dealer or properly completed and stamped documentation. Check the terms for your region and confirm the seller and paperwork for the individual watch. Tissot’s US warranty information.
Ask about service through an official channel
Tissot’s US FAQ gives a general service recommendation of every four to five years, while its US warranty page says to have the watch checked every three to four years. Those are different intervals on Tissot’s own pages, not a single universal schedule. Use the appropriate local official service channel for guidance on your reference and circumstances. Tissot says authorized service centres meeting its equipment and technical criteria receive original spare parts; avoid treating a general interval as proof that an older watch remains water-resistant.

Check the details before paying
- Match the reference number to the product listing, movement, case size and water-resistance specification.
- For a used watch or one intended for water use, ask about its service and water-resistance check history.
- Confirm the seller’s authorized status, regional warranty conditions and included documentation.
- For a replacement strap or bracelet, verify compatibility by reference rather than relying only on width or appearance.
