It is an appealing mix on paper, but one important caveat shapes this review: the August 2026 hands-on article titled for the MKII says its photos and personal impressions are actually of the original Lumecore. The MKII’s reported specifications are useful, but original-model observations should not be mistaken for direct testing of the newer watch.
What is the Lumecore Chronograph MKII?
It is a compact chronograph from Tool Watch Co., with a 38 mm stainless-steel case, a full-lume Flint White dial and a Seiko VK64 meca-quartz calibre, according to the published coverage. The official site labels the MKII “LUMECORE CHRONOGRAPH MKII • NOW LIVE.” Tool Watch Co.

The watch’s central proposition is contrast: a dial intended to glow across its surface, dark skeletonized hands designed to remain legible against it, and a chronograph movement that combines quartz timekeeping with mechanical-style timing behavior as described in secondary coverage. Those details make it distinctive, though the available sources do not include standardized lume measurements or independent movement testing.

The generation distinction matters because the review titled for the MKII says the author’s photographs and hands-on impressions concern the original Lumecore. Its editorial note identifies three MKII updates: an acrylic crystal instead of the original’s double-domed, anti-reflective-coated K1 mineral crystal; increased water resistance; and an FKM rubber strap instead of the original canvas-on-leather strap. The review’s version note and secondary MKII coverage describe the model.

The MKII’s revised water-resistance figure is not established in the cited material. The 3 ATM / 30 m rating belongs to the original model and should not be carried over to the MKII. Likewise, subjective comments about the original’s fit, comfort, weight or strap are not evidence of how the MKII wears.
Reported dimensions and construction
Product coverage gives the Lumecore a 38 mm diameter, 46.4 mm lug-to-lug length, 12.3 mm thickness including the crystal and 20 mm lug width. Because the review’s own note says its hands-on subject was the original watch, treat these dimensions as reported figures rather than independently verified MKII measurements.

The listed dimensions suggest a relatively compact footprint compared with many chronographs, but lug-to-lug and thickness can affect wear as much as diameter. The sources do not provide a separate MKII fit test, so wrist comfort cannot be concluded from the numbers alone.

How the full-lume dial and hands are described
The dial is described as Flint White and coated in BGW9 Super-LumiNova. Coverage says it emits a blue glow after light exposure, while dark, skeletonized hands provide silhouettes against the luminous surface. These are qualitative descriptions: no standardized brightness, charge-time or lume-duration results are reported, so the dial’s real-world visibility over a night cannot be quantified from the available evidence.

What the VK64 movement brings
Both coverage sources identify the movement as the Seiko VK64 meca-quartz calibre. Secondary coverage describes quartz timekeeping alongside a mechanical-style chronograph feel, a sweeping central timing hand and a snap reset. Those are reported characteristics, not results from an independent test of the MKII. The sources do not establish a measured accuracy figure or a service interval for this watch.

The official site marked the MKII live when accessed on October 12, 2026. A secondary article reported pre-orders open in early September 2026, which is a time-specific status rather than confirmation of current stock or delivery timing. The shop collection showed a Lumecore Chronograph listing at $295, but did not clearly identify that SKU as the MKII; that price should not be treated as the current MKII price. If you plan to change straps, the reported lug width is 20 mm and the MKII is listed with an FKM rubber strap. A replacement 20 mm FKM rubber watch strap is a plausible fit, but confirm spring-bar size and attachment details against the product specifications before purchase.

Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a compact chronograph with an unusually prominent full-lume dial and are comfortable with a meca-quartz movement.
- Check further if crystal material, water resistance, exact fit, strap dimensions or quantified lume performance are decisive for you; the cited material does not fully establish those points for the MKII.
- Do not rely on the original Lumecore’s 3 ATM / 30 m rating or its canvas-on-leather strap as MKII specifications.
