The Trilobe Château Trente-Deux tells time with rotating hour, minute, and seconds rings read against fixed indicators—not with conventional central hands. To set it, pull the crown to position 2, align the hour and minute rings, then push the crown fully home to position 1. Its stated water-resistance test is 5 bar (approximately 50 meters), but that rating alone does not establish whether a specific activity such as swimming is suitable.
How do you read the Château Trente-Deux dial?
Trilobe describes the display as “3 display elements showing the current hours, minutes and seconds, located on the same plane as the dial.” The three indications are carried by rotating rings; fixed pointers on the dial show where to read them. The result is a different reading method from a watch with three central hands.

- Hours: Read the hour ring where it meets the trefoil-shaped hour pointer.
- Minutes: Read the minute ring at the second trefoil-tip pointer.
- Seconds: Read the seconds indication at the lower position beneath the minute pointer.
To read the time, locate each fixed pointer and follow it to the corresponding ring’s value. The rings move; the pointers provide the reference points. Trilobe explains the display on its Trente-Deux collection page and lists the display concept on the Château Trente-Deux product page.

How do you set the time?
- Pull the crown out to position 2.
- Turn the crown in either direction until the hour and minute rings indicate the desired time.
- For a precise start, wait until the seconds ring reaches the chosen number, typically “0.”
- Push the crown fully against the case to return it to position 1.
These are Trilobe’s instructions in the Trente-Deux user manual. The crown should be fully pushed home when you have finished setting the watch.

How often should you wind it?
The Château Trente-Deux uses Trilobe’s self-winding X-Nihilo mechanical caliber, with a stated 42-hour power reserve. Wrist movement winds the watch, but the actual winding rate depends on your activity and how the watch fits. Trilobe’s manual recommends seven hours of active wear for optimal winding; long periods sitting still or wearing the watch loosely may reduce winding efficiency.

Allow about seven hours of active wear for optimal winding, according to the manual. The 42-hour figure is the stated power reserve, not a promise that every wearer’s activity will fully replenish it each day.

If you wear it lightly or leave it off
If the watch has not been worn for more than 24 hours, or daily active wear is under seven hours, Trilobe recommends manual winding for optimal reserve: turn the crown upwards 50 times. Alternatively, the manual says you can leave it on an automatic watch winder overnight. A winder is an option, not a requirement for every owner. Can you swim with a 5-bar watch?
Trilobe states that the Château Trente-Deux case has been tested to 5 bar, approximately 50 meters. Its manual says the crown must be in position 1 while the watch is running and fully pushed against the case to guarantee water resistance. The manual’s wording is: “The crown must be in position 1 when the watch is running. The crown, thus positioned, guarantees the water-resistance of the watch.”

The cited manufacturer material does not specify approved activities, so the 5-bar test rating should not be treated by itself as an explicit swimming, diving, or underwater-crown-use guarantee. For advice about a particular activity, ask Trilobe. Make sure the crown is fully home in position 1 before the watch is exposed to water.
