The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Navy Blue is reference 79030B, the blue-dial-and-bezel version introduced in 2020. It keeps the compact 39 mm BB58 case and the automatic, date-free MT5402 movement, while replacing the original black-and-gilt model’s color scheme with navy blue and silver-gilt details. Its headline specifications include 200 m water resistance and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Launch prices are historical; they do not establish what the watch costs today.
Which Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight is the blue model?
The watch covered here is the Navy Blue Black Bay Fifty-Eight, reference 79030B, also written M79030B. Tudor introduced it in 2020. It is distinct from the original black-and-gilt BB58 and from later Black Bay 58 releases, which may have different colors, movements, certifications, or bracelet features.

The Fifty-Eight name refers to Tudor Submariner reference 7924 from 1958. The Navy Blue color story also draws on the history of blue Tudor Submariners associated with the French Navy, or Marine Nationale. That is historical inspiration, not evidence that the modern 79030B was issued to military personnel. Monochrome Watches’ 2020 review discusses the name and the model’s historical context; Hodinkee’s launch coverage addresses the blue Submariner connection.

How does the blue version differ from the black-and-gilt BB58?
The core format remains a 39 mm steel Black Bay Fifty-Eight with a 60-minute dive bezel. The obvious difference is the palette: this reference pairs a blue dial and blue bezel with silver-gilt markings, rather than the original model’s black-and-gilt appearance. That makes the 79030B a color and style choice within the compact BB58 format, not a different complication or a date-equipped alternative.
Whether the blue-and-silver combination is preferable is subjective. Monochrome’s reviewer favored its look, but that preference is not a universal assessment of the two versions.

Which bracelet and strap options were offered?
Tudor’s original press sheet lists three configurations for the 79030B:
- Polished-and-satin-finished riveted 316L steel bracelet.
- Blue “soft touch” strap with folding clasp and safety catch.
- Blue fabric strap with silver band and buckle.
Monochrome reports a 20 mm lug width. That measurement alone does not confirm the fit of every aftermarket strap: check the attachment and end-link arrangement for the specific watch before buying one.

What did the watch cost at launch, and what does that say about its price now?
Launch figures are useful as historical context, not as a current quote. Tudor’s 2020 press sheet listed Swiss VAT-inclusive prices of CHF 3,500 for the bracelet version and CHF 3,200 for the strap versions. Monochrome Watches reported launch-period prices of EUR 3,460 for the bracelet and EUR 3,160 for strap versions. These are figures from different sources and markets, not directly interchangeable prices.
No current retail price, secondary-market range, production status, dealer stock, or listing authenticity is established here. A present-day offer needs to be checked in its own market and dated; confirm that it is reference 79030B and verify the seller, condition, and included bracelet or strap.

How does it compare with newer Black Bay 58 models?
Compare exact references rather than relying on the Black Bay 58 name alone. For example, Tudor’s 2025 press sheet describes a distinct burgundy model with the MT5400-U movement, both COSC and METAS certification, a 65-hour reserve, and T-fit bracelet options. Those specifications do not describe the 2020 Navy Blue 79030B. Tudor’s 2025 Black Bay 58 press sheet identifies that later model’s details.
What can and cannot be concluded from the specifications?
The published dimensions give a useful starting point for judging whether a 39 mm case, 47 mm lug-to-lug span, and 11.9 mm thickness suit your preferences. They cannot predict the fit on every wrist. Likewise, the stated reserve, certification, and water resistance are specifications, not independent test results: no measured timing performance or hands-on wear assessment is established here.
