The Tudor Fastrider Chrono Ref. 42010N is the colorful, 42 mm steel chronograph—not the all-black ceramic Fastrider Black Shield. Its appeal is a distinctive Ducati Scrambler-era design, a self-winding 7753 movement and a practical three-register layout. Now discontinued, it is a pre-owned choice whose condition, configuration and documentation matter as much as its design.
What the Tudor Fastrider Chrono 42010N is—and is not
The 42010N belongs to Tudor’s colorful Fastrider Chrono line. Time+Tide’s 2015 review places its design in the context of Ducati Scrambler styling; that is a design association, not a claim that Ducati made the watch. The reference is built around a 316L stainless-steel case with a matte black ceramic bezel and a choice of yellow, green or red dial.
It is distinct from the Fastrider Black Shield. Tudor’s 2013 press material describes that related model as having a 42 mm ceramic monobloc case. The ceramic-case construction and the Black Shield’s other specifications should not be assumed to apply to the steel 42010N. Tudor’s 2013 Black Shield press document covers the separate model; the 42010N details below come from Time+Tide’s reference-specific 2015 review.
42010N specifications and chronograph layout
| Feature | 42010N details |
|---|---|
| Case | 42 mm, 316L stainless steel with satin finish; PVD-treated steel pushers (Time+Tide, 2015) |
| Bezel and crystal | Matte black ceramic bezel; sapphire crystal (Time+Tide, 2015) |
| Dial options | Matte yellow, green or red (Time+Tide, 2015) |
| Movement | Self-winding mechanical calibre 7753 (Time+Tide, 2015) |
| Power reserve | Approximately 46 hours, as reported by Time+Tide in 2015; this is a stated specification, not an independent test result |
| Chronograph and display | Central hour, minute and chronograph-seconds hands; small seconds at 9, 30-minute counter at 3 and 12-hour counter at 6 (Time+Tide, 2015) |
| Date | Date display at 4:30; recessed pusher at 9 for quick date change, as described by Time+Tide (2015) |
| Strap options noted | Black leather or black rubber (Time+Tide, 2015) |
The dial’s three-register arrangement gives the chronograph information a clear home: running seconds sit opposite the 30-minute counter, while the 12-hour totaliser occupies the lower register. The date at 4:30 is easy to distinguish from the main timing displays, though buyers should confirm that the date and chronograph controls work correctly on the particular used example.

Design and wearing character
The 42010N’s strongest point is its confident, playful look. Bright dial colors set against the black bezel and steel case make it less restrained than a conventional black-dial sports chronograph. Felix Scholz’s 2015 Time+Tide review characterized it as colorful while praising its considered finishing and construction, and described it as comfortable and enjoyable to wear. Those are the reviewer’s impressions, not a guarantee that every wrist or individual example will feel the same.
At 42 mm, it has a substantial sports-watch presence. The exact fit depends on the wearer and on the individual watch’s condition and strap setup; the reference-specific source does not provide lug-to-lug measurements or a universal fit assessment. Try the exact configuration if possible, especially if you typically prefer smaller watches.

Movement, performance and what is not established
Time+Tide identifies the movement as the self-winding 7753 and reports an approximately 46-hour power reserve. That reserve is a published specification from the 2015 review, not a measured result for every surviving watch. The available reference-specific evidence does not establish an accuracy test, timing performance, or the condition of any particular pre-owned example.
Likewise, the cited material does not establish a universal service interval, current parts availability or strap compatibility across variants. Ask Tudor or an authorized service provider about the specific watch and its service needs rather than relying on assumptions based on another Fastrider model.

How it compares with a modern Tudor chronograph
The Black Bay Chrono is useful as a present-day point of comparison, but the available sources do not establish it as a direct successor to the Fastrider. Tudor’s official Black Bay Chrono page describes a different 41 mm chronograph with manufacture calibre MT5813, approximately 70 hours of power reserve and 200 m water resistance.
| Comparison point | Fastrider Chrono 42010N | Black Bay Chrono |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 42 mm (Time+Tide, 2015) | 41 mm (Tudor official page) |
| Movement | Self-winding 7753 (Time+Tide, 2015) | Manufacture calibre MT5813 (Tudor official page) |
| Power reserve | Approximately 46 hours, reported by Time+Tide in 2015 | Approximately 70 hours, per Tudor official page |
| Water resistance | Not stated in the cited reference-specific source | 200 m, per Tudor official page |
| Design character | Colorful steel Fastrider associated in the 2015 review with Ducati Scrambler styling | Separate Black Bay Chrono design |
This comparison is most useful for deciding which kind of watch you want: the Fastrider’s more colorful, discontinued design or the Black Bay Chrono’s stated modern specifications. It does not establish a direct lineage or like-for-like technical equivalence.

Is the 42010N worth buying pre-owned?
It may suit a buyer who specifically wants the colorful Fastrider design and accepts the extra diligence that comes with a discontinued watch. The choice is less straightforward if your priority is documented water resistance, a current model with clearly published specifications, or an example with known service history. The supplied specifications do not establish a water-resistance rating for the 42010N, so do not infer one from the Black Shield or another Tudor chronograph.
Check the individual watch before committing
- Confirm identity and configuration: verify the reference is 42010N, distinguish it from the ceramic Black Shield, and check the dial color and strap against the seller’s description.
- Assess condition: examine the case, bezel, crystal, dial and hands for wear or damage, using clear photographs or an in-person inspection.
- Check operation: confirm the chronograph starts, stops and resets, and that the date changes and quick-date control operate as expected. Have a watchmaker assess it if you cannot verify function confidently.
- Ask for service documentation: records can help clarify what work has been done and when. The cited sources do not provide a universal service schedule for this reference.
- Review completeness and seller terms: establish what box, papers or other documentation are included, check the seller’s reputation, and understand the return terms before purchase.
- Compare the asking price carefully: account for condition, contents, location and any expected service needs rather than treating an estimate as a guaranteed sale value.
Pre-owned market context
WatchCharts labels the 42010N discontinued and reported a $3,103 market estimate as of August 31, 2026. This is a dated secondary-market estimate, not an official Tudor price or a guaranteed transaction amount; WatchCharts notes that condition, delivery contents and location affect the estimate. Check its 42010N model page for the stated date and context, and compare it with current asking prices and the condition of the exact watch you are considering.
