Samsung Electronics Canada’s 2023 Galaxy Watch6 trade-in promotion offered a $100 promotional credit in addition to the assessed value of an eligible old smartwatch. It was a time-limited Canadian offer, not a current deal: purchases had to be completed by September 13, 2023. And “any smartwatch” did not mean every watch automatically qualified.
What Samsung’s $100 Galaxy Watch6 offer covered
In terms dated July 26, 2023, Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. described a $100 promotional credit for customers buying an eligible Galaxy Watch6 Series device and trading in an eligible smartwatch. The $100 was a bonus on top of the value assigned to the old device; it was not necessarily the total trade-in amount. The credit and trade-in value were subject to the promotion’s conditions. The offer applied to purchases in Canada during a defined launch period. For preorders, the purchase period ran July 26 through August 10, 2023; for later purchases, it ran August 11 through September 13, 2023. Trade-in completion was also due by September 13. After receiving the waybill, the customer had to ship the old watch within 21 calendar days.
What “any smartwatch” meant in the Canadian terms
The phrase had important limits. Samsung’s July 26, 2023 Canadian terms said: “The ‘Eligible Trade-In Product’ can be any smartwatch of any model, any manufacturer that is listed on the List of Eligible Trade-In Devices below and in the Service Provider’s device valuation software / tool.” In other words, the offer was broad across brands and models only within the qualifying list in the valuation tool.

- The watch had to be listed as eligible in the service provider’s valuation tool and verifiable by serial number or IMEI.
- It had to have been purchased in Canada and be owned by the customer trading it in.
- It needed a qualifying trade-in value of at least $0.
- The promotion’s definition allowed a qualifying device to be in any condition, but that did not override the eligible-model, ownership, purchase-location, or verification rules.
Check the exact watch in the trade-in tool and read the terms for the country and seller involved. A phrase such as “any smartwatch” is not a substitute for that device-level check.
How the offer differed in the United States
Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement described a separate offer: buyers of a Galaxy Watch6 or Watch6 Classic could receive “up to $250 off with eligible trade-in.” That statement does not establish the terms of Canada’s $100 promotional-credit offer, and the Canadian promotion’s conditions should not be applied to a U.S. purchase. Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement also said the watches became available August 11, 2023.

Samsung’s U.S. support page lists general trade-in requirements covering power, display, device condition, ownership, reset and lock status, FCC ID, and charging-port condition; it notes an exception for a selected cracked-device offer. Those are U.S. program rules, not the Canadian Watch6 promotion’s terms. See Samsung U.S. trade-in requirements.
What to check before relying on a similar trade-in headline
Trade-in offers can combine a promotional bonus with a separate assessed value, and the headline alone does not tell you what you will receive. Before ordering or mailing a device, confirm these points in the applicable current terms:

- Whether the advertised amount is a bonus, the assessed device value, or a combined maximum.
- Which device models are accepted and how condition affects eligibility or valuation.
- Which country, participating seller, and product purchase qualify.
- When the offer must be claimed and when the old watch must be shipped.
- Whether credit is applied at checkout or after assessment, and what happens if a device is rejected or its condition differs from the declaration.
No current exact offer is established here. The Canadian $100 promotion and the U.S. launch offer are historical; confirm directly with Samsung or the relevant retailer before placing an order or sending in a watch.

For context, Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement listed starting prices of $299.99 for the 40 mm Galaxy Watch6 and $329.99 for the 44 mm model; those are 2023 launch prices, not current prices. Samsung also described a display 20% larger than the previous generation, peak brightness of 2,000 nits, and up to eight hours of additional use from eight minutes of fast charging. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. The same announcement highlighted Personalized Heart Rate Zones, more than 100 workout trackers, Track Run and Custom Workout, ECG and irregular-heart-rhythm notifications, skin-temperature tracking, Samsung Wallet, and one-click bands.
