The TUDOR Pelagos FXD GMT is a 42 mm titanium watch designed around aviation timekeeping: its orange 24-hour hand tracks UTC (Zulu time), its local hour hand jumps in one-hour steps, and its rotating 24-hour bezel lets you read a third time zone. Its defining ownership tradeoff is the fixed strap bars, which limit strap choices compared with a conventional watch. How the Pelagos FXD GMT reads three time zones
TUDOR says the watch can track up to three time zones at once. The key is that the third zone is read by repositioning the bezel against the GMT hand; it is not shown by a separate, independently moving hand. Zulu or UTC: the orange 24-hour hand
The orange hand makes one circuit in 24 hours. Read it against the bezel’s 24-hour scale to determine UTC, also known in aviation as Zulu time. The 24-hour format distinguishes day from night: for example, 06 means 6 a.m. and 18 means 6 p.m. UTC.
Local time: the jumping hour hand
The conventional local hour hand can be moved forward or backward in one-hour increments. That makes it the hand to adjust when changing time zones, while the GMT hand can remain aligned with UTC. The date is linked to this jumping hand and changes as it passes midnight in either direction.

A third zone: rotate the bezel
To read another zone, turn the bidirectional 24-hour bezel so its offset from the GMT hand corresponds to the time-zone difference you want to track. Then read the GMT hand against the bezel’s 24-hour markings. This is a bezel-based reference, not a third time indication with its own hand. Because the bezel rotates in either direction, take care to align the intended offset before relying on the reading.
What the fixed strap bars mean
The FXD name reflects fixed strap bars: the fabric strap passes through the case’s bars rather than attaching to removable spring bars. The practical consequence is that ordinary spring-bar straps should not be assumed to fit or change over like they do on a conventional watch. The listed configuration comes on a green one-piece fabric strap with a titanium pin buckle and keeper, plus a removable fabric keeper bearing the French Naval Aviation roundel. Design, commission and price context
TUDOR connects the design to its French Naval Aviation commission. The caseback is grade 5 titanium and carries the aviation insignia and a batch-year engraving. Hodinkee’s 2024 coverage framed the model as an evolution of the FXD family for French Naval Aviation pilots, adding GMT functionality and a coordinated 24-hour bezel; that editorial context does not establish universal comfort, fit or accuracy. TUDOR’s 2024 technical sheet gives a Swiss launch price of CHF 4,350 including VAT for launch reference 2542G247NU.
