The Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT is the stronger fit for a buyer prioritizing aviation-oriented time-zone tracking, a titanium case and 200 m water resistance. The Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Extreme GMT is a smaller, stainless-steel alternative with 150 m water resistance and substantially lower reported launch pricing. The right choice depends on which of those differences matters most: the available specifications do not establish which watch is more comfortable, more reliable or better finished.

Which one is better for tracking time zones?
Pelagos FXD GMT: a stated three-zone aviation use case
Tudor positions the FXD GMT as a watch for French Naval Aviation and explicitly says it can track three time zones at once: local time, Zulu time (UTC), and a third zone. Tudor identifies UTC as the reference time for aviators. Its bidirectional 24-hour bezel and integrated GMT complication support that stated use case. See the Tudor model page for the manufacturer’s explanation.
C63 Extreme GMT: GMT listed, but fewer confirmed details
Christopher Ward’s technical PDF lists a GMT complication for the C63. The sources available here do not specify that it tracks three time zones in the same way Tudor describes for the FXD GMT, so it is safer not to treat their GMT functions as equivalent. If three-zone tracking is decisive, Tudor’s stated capability is the clearer specification.

Case, materials and water resistance
The Tudor is 42 mm across and made of Grade 2 titanium, with a listed thickness of 12.7 mm. It offers 200 m water resistance. Its fixed strap bars are the feature Tudor says gives the FXD its name, and the listed configuration includes a 22 mm green one-piece fabric strap.
The C63 is 41 mm across in stainless steel, with 150 m water resistance and a listed weight of 73 g. Its technical PDF gives a 12.05 mm height; Hodinkee reported 11.65 mm at launch. Those dimensions suggest a slightly smaller case, but they do not establish how either watch will fit a particular wrist. Both have 22 mm strap widths, while the C63 is listed with bracelet and textile strap options.

The difference in water-resistance ratings is a published specification, not a complete measure of suitability for every activity. Buyers should follow each manufacturer’s care and use guidance rather than infer performance beyond the stated ratings.
Movement and power reserve
Tudor lists its MT5652-U movement as certified by both COSC and METAS, with a 65-hour power reserve. Christopher Ward specifies the Sellita SW330-2 and gives a reserve range of 50–56 hours in its technical PDF. Hodinkee’s launch coverage instead reports 56 hours. Because those C63 figures differ, the PDF’s range and the launch report should remain distinct unless a current manufacturer specification confirms a single figure.

- 41mm steel case with polished and satin finish
- Bidirectional rotatable bezel in steel with 24-hour graduated anodised aluminium disc
- Self-winding mechanical movement with 70 hour power reserve
These published specifications do not establish comparative long-term reliability or real-world timekeeping accuracy. Certification is a documented distinction for the Tudor; it should not be stretched into a claim that one watch will perform better for every owner.

Tudor’s US product specification currently lists a suggested retail price of $5,475 and notes that prices can change. Hodinkee reported the C63 at its October 2025 launch for $1,785 on strap or $1,995 on bracelet. Those C63 figures are launch prices, not confirmation of its current price. On the reported figures, the C63 launched at far less than the Tudor’s currently listed US suggested retail price. That comparison is useful for understanding their market positioning, but it is not a like-for-like current transaction comparison: one figure is a current Tudor list price and the others are the C63’s reported launch prices.
Which watch should you choose?
Choose the Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT if
- You want the manufacturer to explicitly state a three-time-zone, aviation-oriented use case.
- You prioritize a titanium case, 200 m water resistance and a 65-hour stated reserve.
- You prefer the Tudor’s listed fabric-strap configuration and its certified MT5652-U movement.
Choose the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Extreme GMT if
- You prefer a 41 mm stainless-steel case over a 42 mm titanium one.
- You want the listed bracelet or textile strap options.
- You are considering its lower reported launch prices, while confirming current pricing and the latest specifications directly before buying.
Neither the cited manufacturer specifications nor the launch coverage establish comparative comfort, finishing quality, long-term reliability or real-world accuracy. Those judgments should not be inferred from case material, price or certification alone.
