The Tudor Pelagos LHD is a 42 mm titanium-and-steel dive watch with its winding crown on the left side of the case, making it suited to wear on the right wrist. Its current official reference is M25610TNL-0001. The caseback is numbered, but the available sources do not establish a fixed production limit: “numbered edition” is not the same as “numbered limited edition.”
What “LHD” means on the Pelagos
TUDOR uses LHD to mean “Left Hand Drive.” The crown is positioned at 9 o’clock rather than the more familiar 3 o’clock, so the watch can be worn on the right wrist. TUDOR connects this layout to its history of making watches for left-handed professional divers, including bespoke models for French Navy divers in the 1970s. TUDOR’s Pelagos LHD background
The watch also has an automatic helium escape valve at 3 o’clock. The crown and valve therefore sit on opposite sides of the case.
Is the Pelagos LHD a limited edition?
The steel caseback is numbered, but the cited sources do not establish a fixed edition size or production ceiling. In his November 18, 2016 launch report, Fratello’s Robert-Jan Broer explicitly distinguished a “numbered edition” from a “numbered limited edition.” The number marks an individual watch; it does not, by itself, prove that production was capped. What the 500 m rating does—and does not—mean
TUDOR gives the Pelagos LHD a water-resistance rating of 500 m (1,640 ft). Its circa-2016 press kit also says the Pelagos was systematically tested to 125% of that stated capacity, or 625 m (2,050 ft). That 625 m figure is TUDOR’s description of its testing, not the watch’s operating rating; the stated rating remains 500 m. TUDOR’s Pelagos LHD press kit
Dial details and the date display
The LHD’s recognizable details include a matte black ceramic bezel insert with beige luminous graduations, beige luminous dial markers and red “PELAGOS” text. Its date display is sometimes called a roulette date: even-numbered dates appear in red and odd-numbered dates in black. TUDOR’s background page describes the dial and movement design. Historical context: left-handed divers and the launch
TUDOR places its bespoke French Navy watches for left-handed divers in the 1970s. Fratello’s report on the LHD launch separately says a left-handed Tudor Submariner reference 9401 was supplied to the French Navy on special request in 1981. Those are distinct historical statements from different sources, rather than a single date for the origin of the LHD design.
TUDOR unveiled the Pelagos LHD in Amsterdam in 2016. The launch-era press materials use reference 25610TNL, while the current product page uses M25610TNL-0001. Launch coverage and photographs document that event; they do not establish today’s dealer stock or current serial-number selection policies.
