Ultrahuman’s Respiratory Health PowerPlug adds snoring, coughing and breathing-disturbance analysis for Ring AIR, but the ring itself does not record audio. The feature uses a nearby smartphone microphone and combines its sound analysis with Ring AIR sleep and recovery data. Ultrahuman announced it on December 18, 2025, with pricing from $3.99 per month in the US; availability was described as a waitlist rollout, so check the app for your account and region.
What Ultrahuman’s Respiratory Health PowerPlug does
Announced in partnership with Sleep Cycle, the optional PowerPlug is designed to identify nighttime snoring and coughing, analyze respiratory disturbances, and show morning summaries and trends alongside Ring AIR sleep information. Ultrahuman says the ring data used for context includes heart-rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, movement and sleep fragmentation. Ultrahuman’s announcement does not provide a complete technical definition of “breathing disturbances,” a public sensitivity or specificity table, or a clinical validation study for the Ring AIR implementation.

How the phone and ring work together
- Phone microphone: A smartphone positioned close enough to capture nighttime audio supplies the sound input.
- Sound analysis: Sleep Cycle technology classifies audio events such as snoring and coughing.
- Ring context: Ring AIR biometrics add information about movement, sleep fragmentation and recovery signals.
- App report: Ultrahuman presents a morning summary and longer-term trends.
This is phone-based sound analysis enriched by smart-ring data, not an on-ring microphone feature. The public announcement confirms the broad workflow but does not publish a version-specific setup path or exact app menu labels. Follow the current in-app instructions; availability and controls may vary. Phone placement, battery, background permissions and ring-data syncing can all affect whether a night is captured completely.

| Market | Monthly | Annual |

| United States | $3.99 | $39.99 |
| United Kingdom | £2.99 | £29.99 |
| Euro pricing | €3.99 | €39.99 |
The US annual plan works out to about $3.33 per month before tax, based on the announced annual price. The PowerPlug is an add-on rather than a statement that all Ring AIR features require a subscription. Ultrahuman described access as rolling out through an in-app waitlist at launch; check the app and your local terms before relying on availability or pricing. A later Ring PRO announcement also describes Respiratory Health as an optional PowerPlug, but its availability or entitlements should not be assumed to apply automatically to Ring AIR.
Privacy: what Ultrahuman says about the audio
Ultrahuman says respiratory audio is processed, stored and managed on the user’s device, that sound files are not uploaded to Ultrahuman or Sleep Cycle servers, and that users can delete recordings. These are company claims in the launch announcement, not independent audit findings. Raw audio, derived event labels, biometrics, account information and usage data are different categories; review the current app permissions and privacy disclosures to understand what applies to each.

It can flag a pattern, not diagnose sleep apnea
Snoring or a disrupted night can be worth tracking, but the available product description does not establish that the PowerPlug diagnoses obstructive sleep apnea, measures apneas and hypopneas to clinical standards, measures oxygen desaturation, or replaces a sleep study. A ring metric can provide context around an audio event; it does not prove the event caused a particular physiological change or identify its medical cause.
Seek medical advice for repeated loud snoring, witnessed pauses in breathing, gasping or choking during sleep, excessive daytime sleepiness, morning headaches or treatment-resistant high blood pressure. Wearable data may help you describe recurring patterns to a clinician, but a lack of detected snoring is not evidence that sleep apnea is absent.

Real-world limits, especially in a shared bedroom
A phone microphone captures room sound, not just the Ring AIR wearer. The public announcement does not say whether the system separates speakers or reliably attributes an event to the wearer. A bed partner, child, pet, television, fan, air conditioner or noise from another room could complicate interpretation; distance, blankets and background noise may also affect capture.
- Incomplete audio: A blocked or distant microphone, depleted phone battery, muted input or operating-system background restrictions may prevent useful capture.
- Incomplete ring context: Removing the ring overnight, poor fit or a failed data sync can leave the sound analysis without the intended biometric context.
- Misclassification: Environmental sounds may be mistaken for events, and the announcement does not publish error rates.
- Overreading one night: Illness, travel, altitude, congestion or other short-term changes can make a single night unrepresentative.
Look for a recurring pattern over several nights rather than reacting to one recording. You can use the trend to note whether snoring coincides with disrupted sleep, or to discuss changes such as sleeping position, alcohol timing or nasal congestion with a clinician; the app should not be treated as prescribing a remedy.

Who the PowerPlug suits—and who should look elsewhere
- Existing Ring AIR owners: A reasonable option if you want sound events connected to ring sleep and recovery data and are comfortable keeping a phone near the bed.
- People shopping mainly for snoring analysis: Confirm PowerPlug access in your country and account before buying a ring for this feature alone.
- Privacy-sensitive users: If you do not want a smartphone capturing room audio, the on-device processing claim may not make the setup comfortable for you.
- Shared-bedroom households: Treat attribution as uncertain unless the app’s current documentation explains how it distinguishes the wearer from others in the room.
- Anyone seeking apnea testing: Prioritize clinical evaluation rather than buying a consumer wearable as a diagnostic substitute.
How it compares with other sleep-monitoring options
| Option | What it offers | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Ultrahuman Ring AIR PowerPlug | Phone-based snoring, coughing and respiratory-disturbance analysis paired with Ring AIR sleep and recovery context. | Requires a nearby phone and optional paid add-on; shared-room attribution and clinical performance are not established in the launch material. |
| Oura Ring 4 | Oura describes nighttime blood-oxygen sensing, breathing-disturbance insights and respiratory-rate tracking. See Oura Ring 4 support and respiratory-rate support. | Oura’s US membership is $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year, with one month included for new members, according to its membership support page. Oura says its product is not a medical device and cannot diagnose sleep apnea: medical-conditions guidance. |
| Sleep Cycle | Phone-first sound-based sleep analysis from the technology partner behind the PowerPlug. See Sleep Cycle. | Current standalone price and feature entitlements are not stated here; it does not provide Ring AIR biometric context. |
| Ultrahuman Home | A separate ambient-monitoring product announced for snoring and cough analysis, with a $399 price announced in November 2025. See Ultrahuman Home’s announcement. | It requires separate hardware and monitors a room rather than relying on the wearer’s Ring AIR; verify current stock, regional shipping and price. |
For the Ring AIR itself, Ultrahuman’s regional Ring pricing page is the place to check current product and sizing information; do not assume a price shown for one market applies elsewhere.
