Moto Watch 40: What Motorola’s $65 Fitness Watch Offers Against Galaxy Fit3

Motorola’s Moto Watch 40 is a watch-shaped fitness tracker, not a Wear OS smartwatch. Here’s how its launch price, LCD and battery claim compare with Samsung’s Galaxy Fit3.

The Moto Watch 40 was a real budget-wearable launch, but the roughly $65 price belongs to its 2024-era introduction—not today’s price. It is a watch-shaped fitness tracker running Moto Watch OS, not a Wear OS smartwatch. As of August 18, 2026, Moto Watch USA lists it for $74.99. Against Samsung’s Galaxy Fit3, the Motorola’s main appeal is its watch-like design and claimed battery life; the Fit3 has an AMOLED display and stronger water-resistance specifications.

What launched—and what the $65 price means

Motorola introduced the Moto Watch 40 as a low-cost fitness-focused wearable below the Moto Watch 70, positioning it among alternatives to fitness bands such as Samsung’s Galaxy Fit3. Launch coverage reported a price of about $65; that is a historical launch-era figure, not a universal current price. Nextpit’s launch-era coverage gives the context, while the Moto Watch USA product page listed the watch at $74.99 on August 18, 2026.

The official store shows Phantom Black and Rose Gold options and includes a magnetic charging cradle. Prices and stock can change, so check the seller and local warranty terms before buying. The name “Motorola” does not mean this device runs the same software platform as a Motorola Android phone: it uses Moto Watch OS.

Moto Watch 40 specifications

Feature Moto Watch 40
Display 1.57-inch LCD
Case and weight Zinc alloy; listed weight 26g
Strap 18mm interchangeable active-wear strap
Wireless connection Bluetooth 5.0

Battery 240mAh; manufacturer claim of up to 10 days
Listed sensors Accelerometer, heart-rate monitor and SpO₂ sensor

Specifications are from the official Moto Watch 40 listing. Its LCD and the Galaxy Fit3’s AMOLED panel are different display technologies; AMOLED generally produces deeper blacks and stronger perceived contrast, but that alone does not establish which is brighter or easier to read outdoors.

What it tracks—and what those readings mean

Motorola advertises all-day heart-rate monitoring, SpO₂ readings, sleep tracking that sorts sleep into REM, deep and light categories, step and activity tracking, and more than 20 sports modes. It also offers breathing exercises and Google Fit synchronization. These are consumer wellness features, not a substitute for medical assessment: the listed sensors do not establish clinical accuracy, and sleep-stage labels should not be treated as a diagnosis.

Available features and health-data handling can depend on region, phone, companion software and updates. Check the current app and compatibility information for the specific model and market before purchase.

Moto Watch 40 versus Galaxy Fit3

The comparison is between two budget fitness wearables, not equivalent full smartwatches. The Moto is shaped more like a small watch; the Fit3 is a fitness band. Samsung’s regional product page specifies a 1.6-inch display and more than 100 watch faces. Best Buy’s U.S. listing supplies some additional specifications, including GPS and battery capacity, but retailer details may be regional or stale.

Practical differences that matter

Display and fit

The Fit3’s AMOLED screen is the stronger specification if contrast is a priority. The Moto’s squarer, watch-like case may suit someone who dislikes a narrow band. Neither screen specification by itself establishes outdoor readability; that depends on more than panel type.

Battery and charging

Motorola claims up to 10 days from the 240mAh battery and supplies a magnetic cradle. Treat the figure as an estimate, not a guaranteed interval: continuous sensing, frequent workouts, notifications, screen settings and phone connection can shorten runtime. Best Buy lists the Fit3’s battery at 208mAh and charging time at about 120 minutes; those listing figures do not establish comparable real-world endurance.

Moto Watch fit
  • See it all clearly: From morning runs to evenings on the patio, the large 1.9" OLED display auto-adjusts for perfect visibility, so you can easily view apps, fitness stats, and notifications and stay in the loop wherever life takes you.
  • The perfect fit for you: With an ultra-thin aluminum frame that’s both durable and lightweight, moto watch fit offers a minimalist look and all-day comfort for any setting. Style it your way with the PANTONE-curated Trekking Green band, or switch it up with a growing collection of compatible 22mm bands* using the included lug adapter.
  • PANTONE Trekking Green: Channel your love for the outdoors with Trekking Green in a fabric finish, a calming, adventurous shade that pairs perfectly with life on the move.
  • Your go-anywhere companion: Built to keep up with every adventure, moto watch fit features Corning Gorilla Glass 3, an IP68 rating**, and 5 ATM pressure rating so it's ready for everything from dusty trails to deep dives.
  • Style it your way: Whether you're dressing up, working out, or winding down, a variety of watch faces let you personalize your look for every moment.

GPS and workouts

The official Moto specification page lists an accelerometer, heart-rate monitor and SpO₂ sensor, but does not list built-in GPS. That omission is not conclusive proof that every regional configuration lacks GPS. If route recording is important, verify the exact model’s GPS behavior before purchase; without onboard GPS, a runner or cyclist may need to carry a phone. Best Buy lists GPS as enabled for the Galaxy Fit3, so confirm the feature for the local model rather than assuming every market’s version is identical.

Water protection

The Moto’s IP67 rating and the Fit3’s 5ATM/IP68-related protection are different specifications, not interchangeable labels. IP67 concerns temporary immersion under specified test conditions; 5ATM describes resistance to water pressure. Neither means a device is safe for every swim, dive, sauna or high-pressure water exposure. Follow the manufacturer’s care and water-use instructions for the specific model.

Software and expectations

The Moto Watch 40 runs Moto Watch OS and syncs with Google Fit; Motorola does not present it as a Wear OS device. Do not buy it expecting Google Play apps, Google Assistant, contactless payments, LTE, cellular calling or the broader app experience of a full smartwatch. The Galaxy Fit3 is also a fitness wearable, even when a retailer categorizes it as a smartwatch. Samsung Health is its central health platform, and a Samsung phone may offer closer integration; check compatibility if using another Android phone.

Which one should you buy?

  • Choose the Moto Watch 40 if you want a watch-shaped tracker, prefer Google Fit, and value Motorola’s up-to-10-day battery claim over an AMOLED display. It makes sense only if basic fitness and notification functions are enough.
  • Choose the Galaxy Fit3 if you prefer a slimmer band, AMOLED, Samsung Health or its stronger water-resistance specifications—and if the model is officially available and supported where you live.
  • For outdoor route tracking, verify the exact regional model’s GPS capability. The Moto’s official page does not list built-in GPS; Best Buy lists GPS for the Fit3.
  • For U.S. buyers considering the Fit3, check current stock, seller, warranty and returns carefully. Best Buy listings show inconsistent availability, so a listing or old price should not be read as proof of reliable new-product supply.
  • If you need a full smartwatch with a particular app, payment, calling or assistant feature, verify that function on the exact device before buying; neither product should be treated as a Wear OS or Galaxy Watch replacement.

Limitations to check before purchase

  • Confirm companion-app and phone requirements for your country and phone model; regional software and health features may differ.
  • Do not treat heart-rate, SpO₂ or sleep estimates as medical measurements.
  • Compare prices using the same date and condition. The launch-era $65 Moto figure, its later official-store price, and inconsistent Fit3 retailer listings are not directly equivalent offers.
  • For imports or open-box units, verify the regional model number, warranty coverage, seller and return policy before ordering.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
