What makes the UR-111C different?
URWERK places the UR-111C in its “Special projects” collection. Rather than present time through a conventional set of central hands, it distributes the information across several displays: jumping hours, retrograde linear minutes, digital minutes and digital seconds. The arrangement is unusual, but it is also mechanically ambitious: the minutes are shown both linearly and digitally, while seconds appear through an optical system.
Linear and digital minutes
URWERK describes a cylindrical minute display driven through bevel gears that redirect motion by 90 degrees. The minute cylinder travels through 300 degrees, then a spring returns it to its starting point. A separate digital-minute display provides another way to read the minutes. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions of the mechanism, not independent observations from a hands-on review.
Digital seconds by optical fiber
The seconds alternate across two small wheels, according to URWERK, and aligned optical fibers relay the indication into view. This lets the seconds be presented digitally without a conventional seconds hand.

A different winding and setting interface
Instead of a conventional end-of-stem crown, the watch uses a roller integrated into the top of the case. A lever on the side selects hand-setting mode. URWERK presents the roller as a new point of interaction with the mechanism; the available specifications describe its function but do not establish how it feels or performs in everyday use.

The specifications above are manufacturer-published rather than independently tested. In particular, no independent timekeeping figures are established here. For water resistance, rely on documentation for the exact watch: URWERK’s product page and main English press release state 3 ATM/30 m, while a separate black-edition PDF result pairs 30 ATM with 100 ft/30 m, an internally inconsistent combination. The 30 ATM figure should not be treated as established.

UR-111C price: historical retail and dated market examples
URWERK’s 2017 launch press release listed a retail price of CHF 130,000 excluding tax. It announced 25 polished-steel examples and 25 gunmetal-finish examples. Those are launch-era details, not evidence of current production, stock or a current manufacturer price.
URWERK’s current model page shows Gunmetal, Iron, Black and TT variations and invites inquiries, but does not publish a current price or inventory. For a current offer, request a dated quote for the exact edition and confirm what is included.

The auction result and dealer listing are different kinds of evidence and should not be treated as equivalent prices. Edition, condition, completeness and provenance can all matter when assessing an individual watch; the figures alone do not establish a reliable current value.
What to verify before buying
The UR-111C’s unusual display is the main reason to consider it, but purchase decisions depend on the specific example, not just the model name. Before committing, ask URWERK or the seller to confirm:

- Condition, service history, provenance and what is included with the watch.
- The water-resistance rating that applies to that specific edition.
- A current, dated price and whether it is a dealer asking price, an auction result or a firm offer.
URWERK’s product page provides an inquiry route, but does not establish current availability. A seller listing should likewise be checked directly for present status and the details of the actual watch.

The UR-111C is best understood as a mechanically inventive display watch rather than a conventional time-only design with an unusual case. Its mix of jumping hours, two minute indications and fiber-relayed digital seconds, together with the roller-and-lever interface, gives it a distinctive technical identity. The published specifications are substantial, but they do not substitute for hands-on evaluation or independent timing results. Its launch price is documented; its current price and availability are not, so buyers should assess a specific dated offer rather than assume the 2017 figure or isolated market examples represent today’s value.
