The 2025 stainless-steel Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 is reference 4200H/222A-B934: a 37 mm automatic watch with a blue dial, integrated steel bracelet and a stated 40-hour power reserve. It follows the 2022 yellow-gold reissue, returning the 222 to steel while retaining the line’s 1977 design heritage. The details below are the Maison’s published specifications; they are not a report of independent hands-on testing.
What is the stainless-steel Historiques 222?
Reference 4200H/222A-B934 is Vacheron Constantin’s 2025 stainless-steel version of the Historiques 222. The Maison identifies the watch as a 37 mm model. It followed the 2022 reissue in 18K 3N yellow gold, also 37 mm. Those are two distinct modern executions of the 222, not simply color variants of one listed reference. How the 222 began
Vacheron Constantin says the original 222 launched in 1977 to mark the Maison’s 222nd anniversary and credits its design to Jorg Hysek. The manufacturer describes the design as having “marked a turning point in the history of the Manufacture”; that is the Maison’s own characterization, rather than an independent assessment. Its heritage account places the modern steel model in a sequence that began with the 2022 yellow-gold reissue.
Case, dial and bracelet
The published dimensions are 37 mm in diameter and 7.95 mm thick. These figures make the watch compact and slim on paper, but do not establish how it fits or feels on an individual wrist. The case is described as tonneau-shaped and monobloc, with a fluted bezel. The blue dial has a matte finish, a date display at 3 o’clock and the Maltese cross emblem at 5 o’clock.

The integrated stainless-steel bracelet has polished and satin-finished surfaces, according to the Maison. The hands and straight hour markers are baton-style, made of 18K gold and filled with lime-green Super-LumiNova. These are specification and design descriptions, not firsthand observations of finishing, legibility or lume performance.
Movement, functions and water resistance
The automatic Calibre 2455/2 is specified with 27 jewels, 194 parts and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Vacheron Constantin states a 40-hour power reserve. Listed functions are hours, minutes, date and balance-stop. The official water-resistance rating is 5 bar (50 m); that rating alone does not establish suitability for a particular water activity.

How it differs from the 2022 gold reissue
The clearest established distinction is material and release sequence: the 2022 Historiques 222 was in 18K 3N yellow gold, while reference 4200H/222A-B934 is the steel edition introduced in 2025. Both are described as 37 mm. The available official pages support that distinction, but do not establish a broader performance ranking or comparative wrist experience.
