The modern Vacheron Constantin Historiques Triple calendrier 1942 is a 40 mm stainless-steel hand-wound watch with a complete calendar display, offered as references 3110V/000A-B425 and 3110V/000A-B426. Its appeal is the meeting of a distinctly vintage-style dial and an unusually legible-for-a-calendar layout; its main buying complication is price, because published figures refer to different dates, markets and kinds of value rather than one current global retail price.
What is the Historiques Triple Calendar 1942?
Vacheron Constantin’s official catalogue lists the contemporary Historiques Triple calendrier 1942 in two stainless-steel references, 3110V/000A-B425 and 3110V/000A-B426. Both are 40 mm across and use hand-wound calibre 4400 QC. The watch is a modern interpretation, not a newly made example of the 1940s reference.
The design looks back to reference 4240. Vacheron Constantin says its first executions—in yellow gold, pink gold and steel—were introduced in 1942, and describes 4240 as its first wristwatch with a triple, or complete, calendar display. The brand’s 2017 model video shows the period-style two-tone silvered dial and the calendar indications that inform the modern watch.

How the calendar works
This is a complete calendar, often called a triple calendar, rather than a perpetual calendar. It displays the day and month in apertures, while a central pointer hand indicates the date around the edge of the dial. Small seconds are shown at six o’clock; hours and minutes are indicated by the main hands. The arrangement puts all three calendar readings on the dial without relying on a digital display.
Monochrome’s 2021 review lists the functions as hours, minutes, small seconds, day, month and pointer date. The calendar’s many indications give the watch much of its character, but buyers should inspect the dial in person or in clear photographs if quick reading is a priority.

Case, dial and reference differences
Monochrome reports a 40 mm stainless-steel case with a 10.35 mm height, a triple-gadroon motif, sapphire crystals on the front and caseback, and 30 m water resistance. Its review describes a cream-colored two-tone dial with a sunburst-satin center, blue steel hands and alligator straps in blue or dark brown, secured by a steel pin buckle. These are published specifications, not a hands-on assessment of fit or finishing.
B425 and B426
The cited review associates burgundy calendar accents with B425 and blue accents with B426. That is the clearest documented distinction between the two modern references here; the official catalogue confirms both reference numbers and their shared core specifications. Listings and photographs can be mistaken or incomplete, so confirm the reference and dial variant from the specific watch’s documentation and images before buying.

For most buyers, the choice is therefore about the accent color and the individual watch’s condition and provenance, not a documented difference in movement or case size. The available sources do not establish that either reference is more valuable or performs better.
Movement and ownership considerations
Both references use hand-wound calibre 4400 QC. Monochrome reports that the movement bears the Hallmark of Geneva and gives the following technical figures: 21 jewels, dimensions of 29 mm by 4.6 mm, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 65-hour power reserve. These detailed calibre specifications are figures published in that 2021 review; the manufacturer catalogue independently confirms the calibre identity and manual winding.

Manual winding makes daily interaction part of the ownership experience: the wearer winds the watch rather than relying on an automatic rotor. The cited sources do not establish service costs, long-term reliability or timing performance, so those points should be assessed with a qualified watchmaker and the seller’s service records rather than inferred from the calibre’s specification.
