One anniversary motif, two different Patrimony watches
Vacheron Constantin marked its 270th anniversary in 2025 with a campaign called “The Quest”. The brand’s motto—“do better if possible, and that is always possible”—is a fitting backdrop for these two Patrimony editions, but their most visible common thread is on the dial.
For both white-gold references, the official product descriptions specify a silver-toned dial with a pattern inspired by the Maltese cross, plus convex outer zones. The motif gives the models a family resemblance without making their displays identical. SJX Watches describes the decoration as asymmetric guilloche-style; that characterization is the publication’s, while the Maltese-cross inspiration is stated by Vacheron Constantin.
The simpler Self-winding uses the patterned field for a restrained hours-and-minutes display, central seconds, and a date aperture. The Moon phase retrograde date has a more elaborate layout: a retrograde date arc and precision moon-phase display share the dial with the time indication. SJX judged that the larger model’s pattern has more room to breathe and that the asymmetry makes the watch appear visually smaller; those are its visual impressions, not measured case dimensions.

The 40 mm Self-winding keeps the familiar arrangement legible: hours and minutes at center, a central seconds hand, and the date in an aperture. Its automatic Calibre 2450 Q6/270 supplies a 40-hour reserve. For someone choosing between these two anniversary pieces, this is the more compact and visually straightforward option.
Patrimony Moon phase retrograde date: more information across the dial
The 42.5 mm Moon phase retrograde date replaces the simple date aperture with a pointer that sweeps across a retrograde scale, while adding a precision moon-phase display. Its automatic Calibre 2460 R31L/270 also offers a 40-hour reserve. The additional complication changes not only what the watch shows but how much of the dial is devoted to indications.

Both calibre names carry the “/270” anniversary designation. SJX reports a 270 emblem beside the Poinçon de Genève and describes the movement finishing as “côte unique.” The official pages establish Hallmark of Geneva certification; the specific finishing description is SJX’s editorial reporting.
