The stainless-steel Vacheron Constantin Quai de l’Île is reference 4500S, first introduced in 2016—not a newly verified 2026 release. It came in two versions: silver/white dial 4500S/000A-B195 and black dial 4500S/000A-B196. The watch combines a 41 mm cushion-shaped steel case with automatic caliber 5100/1 and an unusual pointer date. Its reported US launch price was $14,900 in 2016; that is historical pricing, not a current quote.
Hands-on photos and design
The launch-era photographs accompanying Hodinkee’s hands-on coverage show the 4500S’s mix of rounded and angular forms. Hodinkee describes a cushion-shaped case, round bezel and tonneau-shaped case band. Its reviewer felt that stainless steel helped the case read as a unified design rather than a collection of contrasting parts.
In SJX Watches’ review, the finishing details include polished lugs set against a brushed case middle, embossed hour numerals, printed dial markings and an applied Maltese cross logo. The reviewer judged the dial legible and singled out the pointer date as an unusual feature; those are subjective observations, not measured tests.

Silver or black dial?
| Version | Reference | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Silver/white dial | 4500S/000A-B195 | Hodinkee’s reviewer characterized the lighter dial as the more formal-looking option. |
| Black dial | 4500S/000A-B196 | Hodinkee’s reviewer described black as the more versatile choice. |
The appearance and formality distinction is a reviewer’s opinion, not a technical difference. SJX Watches identifies these two dial references in its 2016 coverage.
