What the Vaer DS2 Meridian offers
Vaer describes the DS2 Meridian as a historically inspired quartz dive watch. The manufacturer lists a stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, luminous dial elements, screwdown crown, and 150m (15ATM) water resistance. It uses a Japanese-made Miyota quartz movement. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently verified performance results.
Vaer’s 39mm product page calls the watch a historically inspired 15ATM dive watch with a Japanese quartz movement and an accessible sub-$300 price. That is the brand’s product description, not an independent value assessment. The available information does not establish real-world diving performance or long-term ownership reliability.

Which size should you choose?
36mm: compact fit, narrower strap choice
The 36mm case has the shortest stated lug-to-lug length at 42.6mm, making it the most compact of these three sizes on paper. Its 18mm lug width is important when buying straps: Vaer warns that most of its straps are 20mm and will not fit this version.

42mm: largest case, same strap width as 39mm
The 42mm version has a 49.03mm lug-to-lug measurement and 20mm lugs. The page lists the Miyota GR12 movement, whereas the 39mm page names the GM12. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing listings rather than assuming the movement designation is the same across sizes.

Movement, battery, and timing specifications
For the 39mm model, Vaer lists a Japan-made Miyota GM12 quartz movement, a 40-month battery-life figure, and a timing tolerance of -10/+20 seconds per month. The 42mm page gives the same stated battery life and timing tolerance for its Miyota GR12. These are the manufacturer’s specifications; they are not independent measurements or guarantees of an individual watch’s results.
The 36mm page identifies the movement as Miyota GM12, but the available product details do not state a battery-life figure or timing tolerance for that size. Do not assume those numbers apply to it without confirmation from Vaer.

Crystal, water resistance, and included straps
The 39mm page specifies a 316L stainless-steel case, flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, locking screwdown crown, and 150m water resistance. The 42mm page specifies sapphire crystal and the same water-resistance rating. The 36mm page identifies the smaller case and movement, but the cited details do not establish all of these construction specifications for that size.
Vaer describes interchangeable quick-release straps as included on its DS2 listings. The lug width varies by case: 18mm for the 36mm watch and 20mm for the 39mm and 42mm watches. Match the strap width to the specific case rather than relying on a general claim of Vaer compatibility.

Is the DS2 Meridian worth the price?
The captured prices support calling the cited 39mm and 42mm listings sub-$300 at the time they were recorded. That is a useful price point, not proof that the watch is the best value in its category: no current competing-watch prices, final delivered totals, or independent tests are established here.
It may suit a buyer who wants a quartz watch, sapphire crystal, a screwdown crown, and a 150m manufacturer-rated water-resistance specification at a listed price below $300. Before buying, check the current listing for the exact size, stock, price, included strap, and any added bracelet or strap cost. If diving is a primary use, do not treat the rating alone as evidence of tested performance; consult Vaer for the specific model’s operating guidance and warranty terms.
Warranty information
The 39mm product page states a two-year guaranteed waterproof warranty. The available information does not establish the full exclusions, claim process, or whether terms vary by region or model. Read the current warranty terms before purchase rather than interpreting the brief statement as an unrestricted coverage promise.
