watchOS 11.5 was released on May 12, 2025. Apple’s release notes highlight the Pride Harmony watch face, Buy with Apple Watch for content purchases in the Apple TV app on a third-party device, and a fix for an iPhone notification issue when the watch battery is fully charged. Apple’s security document lists Apple Watch Series 6 and later for its security entries; later watchOS 11 updates have since followed.
What changed in watchOS 11.5?

These are the user-facing changes Apple lists in its watchOS 11 update notes. Apple’s wording for the purchase feature is specific: it concerns content in the Apple TV app on a third-party device, not all apps, devices, or transactions.
Pride Harmony watch face
The most visible addition is the Pride Harmony watch face. Apple identifies it as a new face, not a broader interface redesign. Check the watch-face gallery on your device to see whether it is available to you.
Buy with Apple Watch in the Apple TV app
watchOS 11.5 makes Buy with Apple Watch available when purchasing content within the Apple TV app on a third-party device. This does not establish that Apple Watch can be used for every Apple TV transaction or on every third-party platform.

Fix for the full-battery iPhone notification
The update resolves an issue that may prevent the paired iPhone from showing a notification when the Apple Watch battery is fully charged. It restores expected notification behavior; Apple does not describe it as a change to charging speed or battery capabilities.

Apple describes impacts including app or system termination, memory corruption, disclosure of user information, code execution, privilege elevation, and cross-origin data exposure. The bulletin includes individual CVE entries; the component list above is not a substitute for reviewing those details.
For CVE-2025-31200 in CoreAudio, Apple says processing a maliciously crafted audio stream may result in code execution. Apple also says it was aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS versions released before iOS 18.4.1. This is Apple’s stated context, not evidence of widespread exploitation on Apple Watch.

Other examples in Apple’s bulletin include CVE-2025-31251 in AppleJPEG, involving a maliciously crafted media file that could cause unexpected app termination or corrupt process memory, and CVE-2025-31219 in Kernel, involving system termination or kernel-memory corruption.
Compatibility and where 11.5 fits
Apple’s security document lists Apple Watch Series 6 and later for its entries. That is the affected range Apple gives for the security content, not a complete feature-by-feature compatibility matrix.

watchOS 11.5 is an earlier point release, not the current endpoint for the watchOS 11 line. Apple’s update page lists later releases including watchOS 11.6, 11.6.1, and 11.6.2. If you are deciding what to install now, check Apple’s current Apple Watch software update information and security releases rather than seeking 11.5 specifically.
