For the Cosmograph Daytona’s 60th anniversary in 2023, Rolex updated the entire range—not just its dials. The redesign touched the case and dial, while the new calibre 4131 brought mechanical and decorative changes. The current US Oystersteel model is reference 126500LN; its Rolex page lists a 40 mm case and displays a price of $16,900 USD, which is a current US listing price, not the 2023 launch price.
What Rolex changed for the Daytona’s 60th anniversary
Rolex introduced the Cosmograph Daytona in 1963. For its 60th anniversary in 2023, the brand revisited the whole range with changes to the case, dial and movement. The announcement described revised case lines and more balanced dial graphics, making the update broader than a face-lift. Rolex’s current US model page identifies the steel watch discussed below as reference 126500LN; it should not be confused with every configuration in the anniversary range.
On models fitted with a Cerachrom bezel, Rolex says the bezel is edged in the same metal as the middle case. The details vary across the range, so this feature should not be assumed to describe every Daytona.
What is new about calibre 4131?
The anniversary update introduced calibre 4131, a self-winding chronograph movement. Rolex lists several technical changes alongside a revised visual finish:

The 2023 announcement also singled out the 950 platinum version: its 18 ct yellow-gold oscillating weight is visible through a transparent case back. Rolex described that display as a first for the Oyster Perpetual collection. These are range-level announcement details, not specifications that apply to the steel 126500LN.

Rolex’s US product page lists the following details for the cited white-dial configuration. The page displays a price of $16,900 USD; this is the live US listing shown on the page on October 8, 2026, not a 2023 launch price or a secondary-market valuation. Product details and price can change.

Rolex describes the chronograph as having a central seconds hand, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. The bezel’s tachymetric scale is intended to indicate average speed over a measured distance. On its product page, Rolex says the scale covers speeds up to 400 miles or kilometres per hour.
Rolex characterizes the Cerachrom ceramic as corrosion resistant, virtually scratchproof and colour-stable under ultraviolet exposure. Those are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not independent test results.

How the Daytona’s chronograph and tachymeter work
Rolex says the Cosmograph Daytona was designed for motor-racing professionals. Its chronograph measures elapsed time; the tachymeter scale can be used to determine average speed over a given distance. In practical terms, a driver or observer can time a known-distance run with the chronograph and read the corresponding average speed from the bezel scale. The scale is a timing aid, not a speed sensor.
Where to buy or service a Daytona
Rolex states that only official Rolex jewelers are allowed to sell and maintain its watches. Use the Rolex jeweler locator to find an official retailer or service route. A marketplace listing alone does not establish that a seller is authorized, and the cited product page does not establish availability, wait times or resale value.
