Sinn’s 757 DIAPAL is an automatic pilot chronograph whose escapement uses the brand’s DIAPAL technology, which Sinn describes as lubrication-free. It also has a 12-hour second-time-zone display. The name matters: Sinn’s manual lists the 757 DIAPAL separately from the 757 UTC and 757 S UTC, so DIAPAL should not be assumed to be present in every watch called a 757 UTC.
What is Sinn DIAPAL technology?
Sinn calls DIAPAL a “lubrication-free escapement.” In its 757 DIAPAL technical manual, the company says the concept arose from concern about aging oil around the Swiss anchor escapement. Sinn summarizes the design rationale as “where there’s no oil, there’s no aging,” while noting that arriving at the solution required numerous practical tests.
This description applies to the escapement; it does not establish that the entire movement is oil-free. A specialist retailer, Sinn DEPOT, offered a 2020 explanation that DIAPAL reduces friction through differences in hardness between metals. That is a retailer’s account of the technology, not an independent performance test or a guarantee of a particular service interval.
Which 757 models have DIAPAL?
The manual has separate technical entries for the 757 DIAPAL, 757 UTC and 757 S UTC. The DIAPAL designation belongs to the first of those entries; the shared 757 family name does not mean all variants use the same escapement technology or have identical specifications.

A 2017–2018 Sinn Japan catalog also treated the DIAPAL and UTC variants as distinct models, while presenting a second-time-zone display as a feature across several listed versions. That catalog is historical context, not evidence of current production or availability.
What the 757 DIAPAL does
Sinn specifies a self-winding Valjoux 7750 movement with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour and a stop-second function. The displayed functions include hours, minutes, subsidiary seconds, date, chronograph and a second-time-zone hand on a 12-hour basis. The watch also has a pilot’s bezel with a luminous key mark.

These are the manufacturer’s figures in a first-edition manual dated February 2014, which says specifications may change. The 20-bar figure is Sinn’s stated rating, not a report of an independent dive test.

The available official specification source is Sinn’s February 2014 manual, and it warns that technical details can change. It does not establish current production status, availability, price or warranty terms. Confirm those details, along with the specification of the exact variant, with Sinn or an authorized dealer before purchase.
