The spider piece is described as a pendant in PerthNow’s pre-event report and as a brooch in Linneys’ later account; the published 2024 values were $3,590, $10,720 and $8,400 for the spider piece, ring and cufflinks respectively.
What jewellery did Harley Reid wear?
In a retrospective published on September 23, 2024, jeweller Linneys said Reid wore a gold, pearl and diamond spider brooch, an organic gold ring set with white and champagne diamonds, and cufflinks. Linneys also said he wore the pieces while accepting the 2024 Goal of the Year award at the ceremony. The jeweller described the moment in its own promotional account: “As he took the stage to accept the coveted Goal of the Year award, Harley wore exquisite pieces from Linneys.” Linneys’ retrospective
PerthNow’s September 20, 2024 preview, published before the ceremony, described the spider item as a pendant and listed an 18-carat yellow-gold ring with diamonds and cufflinks set with coloured diamonds. PerthNow’s preview
Why do reports call the spider piece a pendant and a brooch?
The descriptions differ by source: PerthNow called it a spider pendant before the event, while Linneys’ later retrospective called it a spider brooch. Both accounts describe a gold, pearl and diamond spider piece and report its value as $3,590. The available descriptions do not resolve whether the difference reflects the item’s construction, how it was worn, or simply the terminology each source chose.
