Horage and Miniswys describe MicroReg as an added mechanism intended to let a wearer adjust a mechanical watch’s rate to better suit their own wearing habits. Its first named application is the Horage Revolution 3 MicroReg. That is the announced purpose—not proof that the watch will keep better time on the wrist: the available coverage does not report independent tests, measured accuracy gains, or the range and repeatability of adjustments.
What is MicroReg?
MicroReg is a proposed wearer-adjustment system for a mechanical watch. The idea, as described by Gerard Nijenbrinks in a Fratello feature published July 24, 2024, is to address the difference between a movement’s regulation under controlled conditions and its rate during an individual’s daily wear. Position, activity, and environment can affect a mechanical watch’s rate, so a factory adjustment may not produce the rate a particular wearer prefers.
The feature describes conventional regulation as changing the active length of the hairspring through the regulating organ. MicroReg is presented as an additional mechanism that acts on the hairspring without replacing the mechanical timekeeping system. The article calls the adjustment system “sleeping” and on demand, but those descriptions should be understood as claims about the design: the available sources do not establish its reliability or performance through inspection or testing.
How is MicroReg intended to differ from conventional regulation?
| Approach | What it means | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Factory or watchmaker regulation | A conventional adjustment to the movement’s rate, described in the Fratello feature as changing the active hairspring length through a regulating organ. | The feature uses it as the conventional comparison; it does not provide a full technical guide to regulation. |
| MicroReg | An added mechanism intended to let the wearer adjust the rate to suit their own use conditions. | It is an announced design concept. The reviewed coverage provides no independent results showing improved accuracy, adjustment range, or repeatability. |
The distinction is about who can make an adjustment and what conditions it is meant to address. It does not establish that MicroReg makes a watch more accurate than one regulated conventionally, or that it replaces certification. The Fratello feature also offers a comparison between COSC and METAS testing—describing COSC as testing movements before final assembly and METAS as testing complete watches—but readers seeking certification guidance should check the organizations’ current protocols rather than rely on that article’s summary.

What is the Horage Revolution 3 MicroReg?
The Horage Revolution 3 MicroReg is the first watch named for the system. Fratello’s 2024 feature describes an inverted movement layout that exposes the caliber and adjustment mechanism. A ring around the movement indicates the time, while the article says the adjusted offset is visible on the case back. The arrangement makes the mechanism part of the watch’s visual presentation as well as its announced function.
Horage’s site navigation lists the model under “Pre-Order,” and its official product page is linked from the site. However, the available capture of that page contained no readable current product details. A navigation label alone does not confirm that orders are open, stock exists, or a particular price or delivery date is current.

What technical evidence is available?
The Fratello feature reports two technical figures that should be treated as claims from that July 2024 article, not independently verified specifications: it says a rotation of 0.2 degrees in the regulating organ corresponds to a difference of one second per day, and attributes an annual figure of about 2.2 million chronometer certificates to COSC. The latter was not confirmed with COSC in the reviewed material, and the former should not be generalized as a universal relationship.
In a comment thread attached to the feature, Horage CEO Andi Felsl is quoted as saying, “Yes it is a 3 volt pulse with a special signature and hertz rate.” The article attributes further explanation of actuator movement and holding behavior to him. These are manufacturer-executive statements reported by Fratello, not independently verified specifications.

Does MicroReg make a mechanical watch more accurate on the wrist?
That is the intended problem MicroReg aims to address, but the available coverage does not demonstrate that it improves real-world accuracy. It does not provide independent testing, measured gains, or data on how much a wearer can adjust the rate or how consistently the adjustment works. A wearer-adjustable mechanism and a proven accuracy improvement are different claims.
The evidence available is therefore enough to explain the concept and identify its first planned watch, but not to judge its performance. The design’s practical value will depend on how the mechanism behaves in use and whether a wearer can reliably tune the watch to their preferences.
