The DSKY Moonwatch is a modern wearable recreation of the astronaut-facing interface to the Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC). It is made by Apollo Instruments and is inspired by the historic DSKY—not an original Apollo flight instrument, and not the OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch.
What does DSKY mean?
DSKY stands for “Display and Keyboard.” On Apollo missions, the DSKY was the crew’s compact interface for communicating with the Apollo Guidance Computer. What does the DSKY Moonwatch do?
Apollo Instruments describes its DSKY Moonwatch as an interactive recreation of that interface. It supports verb-and-noun command sequences and presents selected operational routines in original-style display formats, alongside custom operations, according to the company’s media kit.
The product is a modern wearable, not a functioning Apollo Guidance Computer or an instrument that flew in a mission. Apollo Instruments also describes programming-platform support and connectivity for electronic development, but its overview does not specify exact compatible platforms, workflows, or technical limits. What is the 14-indicator detail?
Apollo Instruments says the DSKY Moonwatch has 14 programmable indicators modeled on the annunciator layout aboard Apollo 11’s lunar module, Eagle. This is the manufacturer’s description of the modern product’s design reference, not an independent verification that the wearable precisely reproduces the flight hardware. Is the DSKY Moonwatch the same as the OMEGA Moonwatch?
No. “Moonwatch” can refer to two different products. Apollo Instruments’ DSKY Moonwatch is a computer-interface-inspired digital wearable; OMEGA’s Speedmaster Moonwatch is a chronograph. OMEGA says astronauts wore the Speedmaster during Apollo 11 and describes the modern Moonwatch as drawing on the watch’s historic design.
