What is NORTEQ?
NORQAIN describes NORTEQ as a proprietary, ultra-light carbon-fibre composite made exclusively for its watches and developed with Jean-Claude Biver and BIWI SA. The brand says the material has a marble-like visual effect. Its published product information does not give the composite’s precise formulation, fibre layup or manufacturing process, so those details cannot be inferred from the name alone. How does the Wild ONE absorb shocks?
NORQAIN attributes shock absorption to the rubber bumper surrounding the titanium movement container. Its product description says, “The BIWI rubber bumper reliably absorbs shocks during even the most extreme activities.” That is the manufacturer’s claim about the design; the cited pages do not provide a quantified shock rating or an independent impact-test method.
How do the case materials differ by reference?
Not every Wild ONE uses the same outer-case materials. The standard configuration described above uses NORTEQ for both cage parts. In the cited Meteorite Titanium version, the top plate is Grade 5 titanium, while the back plate is NORTEQ and the rubber shock absorber remains part of the construction.

The figures are specific to the cited product pages, which do not display publication dates. The standard model’s 84 g figure comes from its official listing; the Meteorite Titanium materials and dimensions are listed on its official listing. NORQAIN also shows smaller 39 mm configurations, so these 42 mm dimensions should not be treated as collection-wide specifications.
Why do weight and part counts change between Wild ONE models?
Different case and movement configurations have different published figures. For example, the cited Wild ONE Skeleton page lists 78 g and 33 parts, including four screws, rather than the standard reference’s 84 g and 25 parts. These are model-specific figures, not conflicting descriptions of one universal case. The skeleton page identifies a 42 mm model; its product listing does not display a publication date. NORQAIN also says the Wild ONE is six times lighter than steel and 3.5 times lighter than titanium. Those are manufacturer comparisons: the cited product pages do not state the comparison method, so they should not be read as independently verified measurements.
