IWC says the watch was developed with Pitt and Cloister Watch Company and given a green dial. It is distinct from the green-dial Ingenieur Automatic 40 that IWC later announced as a limited commercial edition inspired by the film watch.
What is Brad Pitt’s watch in F1?
IWC identifies Sonny Hayes’s watch as a specially made prop based on the vintage Ingenieur SL ref. 1832. According to the brand’s 1 April 2025 film-watch announcement, the prop was created in collaboration with Brad Pitt and Cloister Watch Company and given a green dial to reflect the character.
That establishes the prop’s design basis and collaboration, not every detail of the watch’s construction or an independently documented on-set sighting. Time+Tide published a headline saying Pitt was confirmed wearing a custom vintage IWC on the set, but the article’s body could not be inspected. IWC’s own announcement confirms the custom prop’s origin; it does not document a particular set date, location, or sighting.
Is the film prop the same as the IWC IW328908?
No. The prop and the retail watch are related, but they are not the same watch. IWC describes the Ingenieur Automatic 40 ref. IW328908 as a separate edition inspired by the prop, announced with a 1,000-piece production limit.

Can you buy the custom watch Brad Pitt wore?
IWC’s announcement presents the vintage-based watch as a specially made film prop, not as a retail model offered for sale. The IW328908 is the separate film-inspired edition; current stock, pricing, and resale availability are not established here and should be checked with IWC or a reputable watch seller.

A search for an original Ingenieur SL ref. 1832 may find vintage listings, but an ordinary example is not the customized film prop. For any vintage purchase, assess the reference, originality, service history, condition, and seller documentation. Availability of a listing alone does not establish that it is authentic or connected to the film.
How does Pitt’s Ingenieur fit into IWC’s F1 partnership?
IWC’s film involvement extends beyond Sonny Hayes’s watch. In its 2 July 2024 partnership announcement, the brand said it would sponsor the fictional APX GP team and that selected Pilot’s Watches would appear on characters’ wrists. The film partnership was official, but those team and character watches should not be mistaken for Pitt’s custom Ingenieur.

The phrase “confirmed wearing … on set” is the wording of Time+Tide’s headline. Because the article body was inaccessible, its underlying confirmation and any specific set details cannot be independently described here. The clearest accessible confirmation comes from IWC: Sonny Hayes’s film watch is a custom green-dial prop based on the Ingenieur SL ref. 1832, made in collaboration with Pitt and Cloister Watch Company.
