The best-known pieces range from the F50 chronograph ref. 9025 to the widely produced 8020 and a three-prototype tourbillon made in 2004. They are historical collectibles, not evidence of an ongoing Ferrari partnership.
How the Ferrari connection began
The reported 1965 Damier commission
Before there was an official company partnership, Enzo Ferrari reportedly commissioned around 50 personalized Girard-Perregaux Damier watches. Swisswatches Magazine’s 2026 feature, based on a visit to Girard-Perregaux’s Heritage Archive, says the rectangular steel watches were hand-wound, displayed hours and minutes, and had a geometric, index-free dial. Ferrari reportedly saw the pattern as reminiscent of a Grand Prix chequered flag. The watches carried Ferrari emblems and were given to selected drivers and close associates. These details are best understood as the magazine’s archival account rather than as independently confirmed facts about every surviving example.

The formal collaboration, dated to 1994
The recent archival feature dates the official collaboration to 1994 and credits Girard-Perregaux owner and CEO Gino Macaluso and Ferrari manager and Scuderia team principal Jean Todt with advancing it. Chronologies differ: Grand Prix Watches describes an 11-year relationship beginning in 1993. The available accounts therefore do not establish a single uncontested start and end date; 1994 is the start date used by the recent archive feature.
The period left a documentary trail. The Archives of Horology catalog lists Ferrari-related Girard-Perregaux press materials and catalogs dated 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2002. A catalog listing establishes that material existed, but does not by itself verify a watch’s production run or the history of an individual example.

F50 Chronograph ref. 9025: the anniversary watch
The reference 9025 tied a complicated chronograph to Ferrari’s F50 story. The archive feature describes a 40 mm rose-gold example with a cream dial and automatic Calibre 3170, combining a chronograph, perpetual calendar, and small seconds, with at least 46 hours of power reserve. Its first series comprised 349 watches, corresponding to the number of F50 cars built at the time. The feature reports a later 250 pieces, bringing the stated total to 599 across titanium, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. It says the first watches were reserved for F50 owners and sometimes paired with car chassis numbers.

That series distinction matters when researching the ref. 9025: Grand Prix Watches lists a 250-piece limit, while the archival feature separates an initial 349 from a later 250. The figures should not be collapsed into one supposedly uncontested edition size.
8020: the more numerous chronograph
Launched in 1997, the ref. 8020 used a 38 mm stainless-steel case and automatic Calibre 2280, with chronograph, small seconds, and a date at four o’clock. The archive feature lists yellow, red, blue, white, and black dials; the yellow version carried the Cavallino Rampante. It calls the 8020 the collaboration’s most successful model and estimates production at about 50,000 watches. That is an estimate reported in 2026, not a confirmed production total. The feature gives the original steel retail price as CHF 2,950; that historical figure is not a current market valuation.

375 MM Mono-Pusher: a car’s color and name in watch form
The 2002 375 MM honored a one-off Ferrari 375 Mille Miglia designed by Pininfarina in 1954 for film director Roberto Rossellini and his wife Ingrid Bergman. The car’s light gray paint became known as “Grigio Ingrid,” echoed by the watch’s gray dial. Its 375-piece limit reflected the car’s name. The rectangular rose-gold case measured 30 × 45 mm, and the hand-wound column-wheel Calibre GP E03C0 offered a 38-hour reserve. A single chronograph pusher was integrated into the crown.
Vintage 1945 Ferrari Tourbillon ref. 99850: three prototypes
For the formal partnership’s tenth anniversary in 2004, Macaluso commissioned three identical prototypes: one for Michael Schumacher, one for Jean Todt, and one for himself. The rectangular watch combined a gold-plated brass case and alligator strap with a hand-wound Girard-Perregaux Gold Bridge Tourbillon and Ferrari Rosso Corsa red dial. Ferrari symbols and helmet motifs surrounded by five stars referred to Schumacher’s five consecutive Formula 1 drivers’ championships from 2000 through 2004. These were prototypes, not a generally available numbered production edition.

Other Ferrari-era references
The five watches above are not the whole story. Grand Prix Watches’ secondary model index also lists the 1999 S.F. Foudroyante, the 156 F.1 ref. 4945, the Vintage 1945 Scuderia Ferrari F1 Limited Edition ref. 2599, and the F2003 GA world-time chronograph ref. 4980. The Archives of Horology catalog records a 1999 catalog covering S.F. Foudroyante and Ferrari watches, as well as Ferrari-related press material in 2001 and 2002. Those records support the existence of period materials, not unlisted production quantities.

- Start with the claimed reference and compare the seller’s description with documented features such as case dimensions, movement, dial layout, and complications.
- Ask for clear photographs of the dial, case, caseback, movement, and any accompanying papers. Treat missing or unreadable evidence as unresolved, not as proof for or against authenticity.
- Separate factory configuration from later service parts, replacement components, or alterations. Do not infer originality from a matching color or logo alone.
- For a consequential purchase, seek an assessment from a qualified watch professional familiar with Girard-Perregaux and request documentation of what was examined. The sources cited here do not establish a named authentication service or guarantee any seller’s claims.
The 8020 is the most widely produced Ferrari-era model in the accounts above, while the F50 ref. 9025 is a more specifically tied anniversary collectible. Both are discontinued; no current inventory, seller authenticity, or market price is established here.
Is the Ferrari partnership still active?
No current Ferrari partnership is established by Girard-Perregaux’s present motorsport page. As checked on October 12, 2026, the brand’s official partnership page features Atlassian Williams F1 Team and describes its emphasis on the work and craft behind racing and watchmaking. Its statement, “This partnership is not about celebrating speed. It is about celebrating everything that makes speed possible,” refers to Williams, not the historical Ferrari collaboration.
