#tide ocean material is a Swiss supplier of recycled plastic made from ocean-bound waste. It sells the material as pellets for manufacturers, including companies making watches and watch straps. This is the Swiss materials company—not the unrelated organizations that also use the name Tide.
What does #tide do?
#tide supplies recycled plastic pellets to manufacturers. The company’s account of its origins begins with founder Thomas Schori exploring whether ocean-bound plastic could be turned into recycled polyester yarn for watch straps. #tide says it worked with the Swiss University of Applied Sciences OST on research into transforming plastic waste into a premium recycled material for durable goods.

For a watch buyer, the distinction is useful: #tide supplies material, while a watch or strap maker chooses whether and how to use it in a product. The name #tide on a brand’s materials information therefore points to a stated material source; by itself, it does not establish the finished product’s recycled-content percentage, construction, performance or repairability.
Where does the plastic come from, and what does #tide say about collection?
#tide says it works with local communities, organizes beach clean-ups, and pays waste pickers and fishermen to collect plastic. It presents that work as a way to secure ocean-bound plastic feedstock and support waste-management infrastructure. Those are company claims; an independent audit or outcome study was not established here.

The company also says its material is certified according to industry standards, but the specific standards and certification details are not identified in the available company information. For procurement or product research, ask for the applicable certificate, its scope and validity, and documentation showing the material’s composition and traceability for the particular product.
Which brands use #tide material?
#tide’s website says that “90+ Brands are using #tide®” and names Caran d’Ache, Kvadrat, ALDI SÜD, Ricola, Migros, Condor Group and PB Swiss Tools among its users. The count has no visible publication year, so it should be treated as a current company-site claim rather than a dated or independently verified market total.
