1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsI bought the Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 Bicolor for two reasons: its vivid Caribbean-blue dial with yellow-gold details, and the Calibre 400’s five-day power reserve. I chose the steel bracelet over the fluorescent-blue rubber strap. That is a personal case for this particular watch—not a claim that the two-tone design suits everyone or that it is objectively better than another Aquis.
What “Bicolor” means on this Aquis
Here, Bicolor refers to a combination of materials: a stainless-steel mid-case and case-back ring, with an 18K gold upper case ring and gold outer-bezel knurling. The result pairs the blue dial with warm gold accents while leaving much of the case in steel.
The name can be confusing when shopping. “Bicolor” was the launch name, while the author says Oris later described the model on its site as an Aquis Date Calibre 400 with a stainless-steel case specification. The receipt and tag reportedly used “Bico.” In US and UK consumer language, “two-tone” may be more familiar. I use Bicolor, steel and gold, and two-tone to describe the same design here, but a listing’s wording alone does not prove it is the same watch.
I first saw it at a preview in February 2022 and took delivery in late July that year. Those dates describe my purchase, not the model’s general release date or current availability. For the naming and purchase account, see Fratello’s original article.

Why the design persuaded me
I had wanted a Calibre 400 since its introduction, but the first Aquis version looked restrained to me. The Bicolor gave the movement a more expressive setting: yellow-gold accents against a Caribbean-blue dial, with a bright, summery character. Among the watches in the 2022 preview lineup, this was the combination that caught my eye.
That is an aesthetic judgment, not a universal buying rule. The same contrast that made the watch feel exuberant to me may be too bold for someone who wants a more discreet daily watch. The useful question is whether you enjoy wearing the blue-and-gold combination across the settings where you plan to use it.
Why Calibre 400 mattered
The other major draw was the movement’s 120-hour, or five-day, power reserve. I was comparing that with the 38-hour reserve I associated with my older Aquis, powered by Oris Calibre 733. To me, the longer reserve suited a more technical take on the Aquis and meant the watch could sit for several days and still be running when I returned to it.

Oris introduced the Aquis Date Calibre 400 in 2020. Its launch material specifies a 120-hour reserve and 30 atmospheres (300 metres) of water resistance, and lists historical Swiss launch retail prices of CHF 3,200 on bracelet and CHF 3,100 on rubber strap. Those are launch-era figures, not current prices for the Bicolor. Oris announced availability for November 2020. See the Oris launch press release.
Oris also describes the movement as everyday anti-magnetic. Its 2020 launch material reports a test in which Calibre 400 was exposed to a 2,250-gauss magnetic field and lost less than 10 seconds per day afterward. That is manufacturer-reported test data, not an independent test or a guarantee of how every watch will perform in every environment.
Why I chose the bracelet
The Bicolor was offered with a steel bracelet or a fluorescent-blue rubber strap. I chose the bracelet because it gave the watch the look I wanted while keeping a strap change as an option. The integrated-lug shape, however, limits the range of aftermarket straps; do not assume a generic strap will fit simply because its width seems right.

Current Oris product pages for other 43.5 mm Aquis Date Calibre 400 references list a 23 mm interhorn width and show both rubber-strap and steel-bracelet configurations. Those pages do not establish compatibility with the older Bicolor. Check the exact reference number and attachment system before buying a replacement strap or bracelet:
- Oris reference 01 400 7790 4157-07 4 23 47EB, a current US green-dial, rubber-strap reference.
- Oris reference 01 400 7790 4157-07 8 23 02PEB, another current US product page.
When I handled the bracelet’s quick-release flap, I once dropped the watch about 20 cm onto a desk. The movement stopped and the watch went in for checks under warranty. That was an isolated ownership incident, not a durability test; it does not establish how the watch or movement responds to drops generally.
What the dive-watch credentials do—and do not—tell you
Oris’s launch material describes a unidirectional rotating bezel with a ceramic insert, luminous hands and indices, and 300 m water resistance. A Fratello reviewer who took the Bicolor diving reported that the bezel was easy to operate with dive gloves and that the time and elapsed dive time were legible underwater. The same reviewer found that the sunburst dial could produce unwanted glare. These are one reviewer’s observations, not a safety certification or a substitute for checking the watch’s condition and suitability for a particular dive. A mechanical dive watch does not replace a dive computer.

Warranty wording depends on which Oris page and terms apply. Oris’s current US product page for reference 01 400 7790 4157-07 4 23 47EB displays a two-year warranty and says MyOris registration can extend it to ten years. Oris’s launch material describes a ten-year recommended service interval and a ten-year warranty with MyOris registration. The manufacturer’s current product-page language for Calibre 400 also refers to a five-day reserve, everyday anti-magnetism, ten-year recommended service intervals, and a ten-year warranty.
These statements should not be read as a blanket promise that every Bicolor watch has the same coverage. Before buying, confirm the exact reference, registration eligibility, warranty status, and current terms with Oris or the seller. The current product pages are for specific references and do not establish the current offer or warranty status of the Bicolor itself.
What to check before buying a Bicolor
If you are considering one, verify the details that can turn a similar-looking listing into a different watch:
- Reference and materials: Confirm the reference number and that the gold details are the Bicolor’s 18K gold components, rather than a visually similar all-steel Aquis.
- Fit: The launch material concerns a 41.5 mm Calibre 400 model, while a current US Calibre 400 reference page lists a 43.5 mm case. Check the exact watch’s dimensions and try it on if possible; do not transfer a dimension from one reference to another.
- Bracelet or strap: Compare the included configuration, comfort, adjustment and attachment system. Confirm compatibility before ordering another Oris or aftermarket option.
- Price and condition: The CHF 3,200 bracelet and CHF 3,100 rubber prices were Swiss launch retail prices in 2020. They are not a current valuation or an indication of present availability.
- Coverage: Get the seller’s warranty details and check what MyOris registration can provide for that specific watch.
Oris’s current product information is useful for understanding the Calibre 400 family, but its green-dial steel reference should not be mistaken for proof of a Bicolor listing’s materials or configuration.
