Which Longines Spirit Titanium is it?
Spirit Titanium is a family, not a single watch. Two official listings illustrate the main size choice: the 40 mm reference L3.810.1.53.6 and the 42 mm reference L3.811.1.53.6. Both have an anthracite dial and titanium bracelet. The choice between them is chiefly about fit and proportions; the listings do not establish how either size wears on a particular wrist.

These are different sizes listed in different markets, so the amounts are not a like-for-like local price comparison. Check the current Longines listing or an authorized retailer in your market for the relevant reference and price.
What makes the watch appealing?
Titanium in a pilot-watch design
Longines presents the Spirit as a pilot-watch line and describes the Titanium models as an extension of that aviation story. In its 1 September 2021 announcement, the company said the collection had taken “a new step forward with timepieces forged from titanium, in homage to the world of aviation where the collection originated.” That is the brand’s own framing, rather than an independent assessment. Titanium is the defining material difference from the collection’s steel alternatives. The sources cited here do not provide a comparative weight for these watches, so there is no specific weight saving to quantify.

Chronometer credentials and a silicon balance-spring
Longines says movements across the Spirit collection use silicon balance-springs and are COSC-certified. COSC certification gives the watch a formal chronometer credential; it should not be treated as a guarantee of a particular owner’s real-world accuracy. The product pages specify an automatic movement running at 25,200 vibrations per hour.
Useful everyday specifications
The two cited titanium references list up to 72 hours of power reserve and water resistance of 10 bar. They also have a screw-in crown, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and Super-LumiNova on the anthracite dial. The titanium bracelet closes with a triple-safety folding clasp. These are concrete specifications, not proof of performance in every condition or of any particular level of durability.

How to compare it with other Spirit watches
The Spirit collection includes steel alternatives as well as titanium, and its broader range includes separately named Flyback and Zulu Time models. Those are different watches, not interchangeable versions of the simple automatic titanium references discussed here. Longines’ collection page also displays Switzerland-specific prices and labels some steel listings “Best Seller”; that is the manufacturer’s own designation, not independent sales evidence.
- Size: Compare the 40 mm and 42 mm titanium references in person if possible. The official pages confirm the dimensions but do not report wrist-fit experiences.
- Material: Choose between titanium and the steel alternatives based on your material preference and the locally available model.
- Function: Decide whether a straightforward automatic watch suits you or whether you are considering a separate complication such as a Flyback or Zulu Time.
- Price: Compare the same reference in the same market using current local listings; regional prices and import dates can differ.
Longines lists a five-year guarantee for automatic models on its Spirit collection page. Check the terms and local applicability on the relevant regional page before buying.

Is everyone really going crazy about it?
That wording makes a lively headline, but it is not established as a measured trend. The available material includes official product information and one individual review, but no representative owner data, sales figures or search-interest data showing a broad popularity spike. The more supportable explanation is that the watch brings together recognizable pilot-watch styling, titanium construction and a set of specific mechanical-watch credentials that may appeal to enthusiasts.
