The Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 6007A-001 pairs a traditional round steel case with a far more graphic dial than many readers expect from a Calatrava. Its gray-blue color, carbon-style center, concentric scales, luminous Arabic numerals and textile-embossed strap give it a technical, sporty character. Whether that feels energetic or too busy is a matter of taste, not a measurable consensus.
Why the 6007A-001 can feel divisive
The watch’s basic outline is familiar: a polished, round Calatrava case with a broad cambered bezel. The dial, however, layers several kinds of visual information. A fine-grain carbon-style center sits within circular graining; white printed scales and triangular markers add further rings; and applied Arabic numerals and luminous baton hands provide prominent points of contrast.
That combination makes the reference read more like a dress-and-sport hybrid than a deliberately spare dress watch. Someone drawn to texture, contrast and instrument-like legibility may find the composition distinctive. A reader seeking a quiet dial and minimal detailing may instead find it busy or too sporty. Those are plausible responses to the design, not the result of a consumer survey.
Patek Philippe described the dial’s center as a “carbon”-style texture that “plays with light,” and called the design dynamic. Those phrases are the manufacturer’s description rather than an independent critical verdict. Hodinkee’s Jack Forster likewise discussed the model as an unusual Calatrava, highlighting its steel case, luminous markers, Arabic numerals and double chapter-ring composition (Hodinkee, June 18, 2020).

What does “New Manufacture 2019” mean?
It refers to Patek Philippe’s new production building in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva—not to the watch’s model year. The company announced the limited edition in June 2020 to mark completion of the facility. The first work groups moved into the building in 2019, which explains the wording on the caseback. Patek presented the watch as a commemorative keepsake for the new manufacture.

The polished stainless-steel case measures 40 mm across and 10.34 mm high, with a 22 mm lug width. The matt gray-blue calfskin strap has white decorative stitching and an embossed textile-like motif; it closes with a stainless-steel pin buckle. What does one auction result tell buyers?
Phillips recorded a CHF 35,561 sale for one 2020 example in its 2026 Geneva Sessions spring auction catalogue. The lot included a Certificate of Origin dated July 2020 and accessories.
