Two owners interviewed by Time+Tide chose the Bulgari Octo Finissimo for different personal reasons, but both were drawn to the steel model’s unusual design, slim profile and practical water-resistance rating. Their accounts offer useful perspectives—not a survey or a verdict for every buyer. The details also depend on the reference: the steel 103297 and titanium 102713 differ in thickness and water resistance.
What drew these two owners to the Octo Finissimo?
Jean-Paul: a milestone watch with a black dial
Jean-Paul wanted a watch to mark his son’s birth. “I was looking for a watch to celebrate the birth of my son.” He was seeking something elegant and sleek without being so formal that it would be reserved for dress occasions. He chose the black-dial steel version and valued its versatility with both casual and dressier clothes.
Bryan Robertson: bracelet, facets and perceived durability
Robertson’s interest began with the way the watch looked and handled light. “The bracelet and the multiple facets of the case is the main reason.” He also appreciated the engineering and felt the steel version suited his lifestyle. Its 100 m water-resistance rating was part of that decision, alongside the distinctive design.
Both men’s comments point to a particular combination: an angular, recognizable case and integrated bracelet in a watch that remains exceptionally slim. Their attraction was not simply to thinness on its own; each also considered how the watch would fit into everyday wear.

What did they notice after buying it?
Comfort and the clasp
Jean-Paul highlighted the recessed deployant clasp and the comfort of wearing the watch. He described it as “sporty enough to wear with jeans and a t-shirt, but also dresses up incredibly well.” That is his experience with his own watch, rather than a guarantee that the bracelet or fit will suit every wrist.
How thin it feels
Robertson’s most persistent surprise was the profile: “The thickness. Every. Single. Time.” The Octo Finissimo’s thinness is a defining part of its wrist experience, but buyers should consider whether they want that light, low-profile feel or prefer a watch with more heft. Bhanu Chopra’s 2025 account of seven years with a titanium Octo Finissimo likewise emphasizes its lightness and describes it as his default watch; that is another individual perspective, not a broad owner survey (Worn & Wound, 23 September 2025).

Steel 103297 and titanium 102713 are not interchangeable
The owners’ remarks about 100 m water resistance refer to the steel version they discussed. Bulgari’s official US pages list materially different specifications for the steel and titanium references:

Specifications are from Bulgari’s US listings for reference 103297 and reference 102713. Water resistance is a model specification, not a recommendation to expose a watch to any particular activity without checking Bulgari’s guidance and the condition of the individual watch.

The distinction matters if thinness and water resistance are both central to a purchase. The titanium listing is thinner, but rated to 30 m; the steel listing is thicker, with a 100 m rating. The steel listing showed $14,100 on Bulgari’s US site when accessed on 7 October 2026. That is a dated, region-specific listing price, not a timeless global price.
How did the owners wear theirs?
Jean-Paul described wearing his with jeans and a T-shirt as well as more formal clothes. Both interviewees said they wore their watches regularly, although their routines were personal and differed. The evidence supports versatility as these owners experienced it; it cannot establish how the watch will fit a particular dress code, wrist, or daily routine.

Chopra’s separate titanium-owner account is useful when considering the lighter variant’s trade-offs. He says his watch is rated to 30 m and that he has not worn it in a pool or at the beach. He also mentions concerns about winding or power reserve that he had heard from other owners, while reporting no accuracy trouble with his own watch. Those remarks are anecdotal reports, not measured failure rates or confirmed defects.

- Reference and material: Confirm whether you are considering steel 103297, titanium 102713, or another Octo Finissimo variant; specifications for one should not be applied to another.
- Thickness and wrist feel: The listed steel and titanium examples differ in thickness, and owners’ accounts suggest that the low profile or lightness can be a major part of the experience. Try the watch on if possible, especially if you usually prefer a more substantial-feeling case.
- Water resistance: Compare the exact reference’s rating with your intended use. The cited steel and titanium versions are rated to 100 m and 30 m respectively.
- Dial and legibility: The two official listings describe a black matte steel dial and a grey sandblasted titanium dial. Personal preference and how clearly you read a dial matter as much as the color name.
- Bracelet and clasp: The integrated bracelet was Robertson’s main attraction, while Jean-Paul specifically noticed the recessed deployant clasp. Assess the fit and closure for yourself.
- Movement details: The cited titanium page specifies a 60-hour reserve; the cited steel page does not state a reserve. Check the listing for the exact reference rather than assuming every version shares every published detail.
- Price and alternatives: Verify the current price and availability in your region. The two owners made personal comparisons with other high-end sports watches, but their comments do not establish a universal value ranking against competitors.
What these owner stories can—and cannot—tell you
Nick Kenyon’s Time+Tide interview, published 24 May 2021, presents two owners: Jean-Paul with a black-dial steel watch and Bryan Robertson with a blue-dial steel watch (Time+Tide interview). Their reasons illuminate why the design, bracelet, thinness and steel model’s rating appealed to them, but two interviews cannot establish owner consensus. They also do not establish current waiting times, resale performance or comparative value. Treat their comments as personal testimony and use the exact Bulgari reference specifications when making a buying decision.
