No—the Black Bay 58 is not obsolete. TUDOR still lists the 39mm steel model and published a 2026 specification sheet for it. The Black Bay 54 and Black Bay 41 offer smaller and larger alternatives, respectively, but neither duplicates the BB58’s middle-size position. That establishes its current catalog status, not how long TUDOR will continue producing it.
Is the Black Bay 58 still in TUDOR’s current lineup?
Yes. TUDOR’s official catalog lists the steel Black Bay 58 reference M7939A1A0NU-0001, and the brand has issued a 2026 Black Bay 58 specification sheet. Those are concrete signs that the BB58 remains a current product; they do not promise that any particular reference will stay in production indefinitely.

There is also no basis in the available official information to say that sales are forcing the BB58 out. TUDOR has not published a sales comparison among these three models in the cited material, so claims that the BB58 is being replaced—or that demand for it is rising or falling—would be speculation.
How do the BB54, BB58 and Black Bay 41 compare?
All three cited steel dive-watch references are rated to 200m water resistance, but that shared rating does not make them interchangeable. Case size and thickness, movement specifications, bezel design and available configurations distinguish them.

Specifications are from TUDOR’s cited product pages and the 2026 BB58 sheet: Black Bay 54, Black Bay 58 and Black Bay 41. Confirm the exact reference and market when comparing configurations; the figures here should not be read as a claim that every size is offered with identical dials, bracelets or straps.
What does each size offer on the wrist?
Black Bay 54: the compact choice
At 37mm and 11.2mm thick, the BB54 is the smallest and slimmest of the three. Its bezel insert lacks minute graduations, a detail that contributes to a simpler, historically styled look. TUDOR describes it as “perhaps the most true-to-form Black Bay to have been created thus far.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent assessment.

- Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight Automatic Chronometer Blue Dial Men's Watch M79030b-0001
Black Bay 58: the middle ground
The 39mm BB58 sits between the 54 and 41 in both diameter and thickness. Its 2026 steel specification gives it a 47.8mm lug-to-lug measurement, which can help shoppers compare how far the case may span across the wrist; wrist shape and fit still matter. The current cited steel reference uses the MT5400-U, with COSC and METAS certification and a certified 65-hour power reserve. TUDOR lists bracelet and rubber-strap configurations.
Black Bay 41: the larger option
The cited 41mm Black Bay is also the thickest at 13.6mm. It uses the MT5602-U, certified by COSC and METAS, with a 70-hour power reserve. Choose it over the BB58 if you prefer a larger, more substantial case; it is not a direct size-for-size substitute.

Which Black Bay should you choose?
- Choose the BB54 if compact dimensions and its less graduated bezel appeal to you.
- Choose the BB58 if you want a 39mm case between the 37mm and 41mm options, with current steel bracelet or rubber configurations.
- Choose the Black Bay 41 if you prefer the largest case and are comfortable with its greater thickness.
Try the exact reference and strap or bracelet you plan to wear if possible. Diameter alone does not determine fit, and comparing the models by water resistance alone misses the main differences in size, profile and design.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does a newer neighboring model make the BB58 a poor buy?
Not by itself. The BB54 and Black Bay 41 expand the choices around the BB58 rather than occupy its 39mm position. Whether that makes the BB58 right for you depends on the fit and design you want, not simply on which model is newest. TUDOR’s current listing supports calling the BB58 an active catalog option; it does not establish future production plans or relative popularity.
