The current US listing shows the gold and silver models at $599.95. It pairs analog hands with health tracking, smartphone notifications and a small grayscale display; its headline advantages are conventional watch styling and up to 35 days of battery life, while connected GPS and limited smartwatch functions are important trade-offs.
What Withings announced—and what it costs now
The ScanWatch Nova Brilliant was unveiled at IFA 2024, with availability originally planned for November of that year. The announcement included titanium-silver and silver-and-gold finishes, plus Cardio Check-Up, a cardiologist-review service associated with Withings+. The launch timing is historical, not a current release announcement. Wareable’s launch coverage and Withings’ press release describe the unveiling.
As of the current US Withings listings checked for this article, the 39mm gold and silver models are priced at $599.95. The gold product page was marked in stock; stock and prices can change, and regional availability may differ. Check the gold listing and silver listing for current status.
Design: an analog watch with a discreet digital window
“Luxury” here chiefly describes the materials and styling, not a mechanical movement or a full-featured smartwatch. The 39mm case is stainless steel, with sapphire crystal and an anti-reflective coating. The silver model’s fluted bezel is specified as titanium. It has a stainless-steel crown, Super-LumiNova hands and indexes, and an integrated five-link metal bracelet; an FKM fluoroelastomer strap is also included. Withings lists the watch at 42g without the wristband and 12.99mm thick.

The small grayscale OLED display measures 0.63 inches, with a listed density of 282 PPI and 14,504 pixels. It provides a compact window for watch information rather than the large, touch-led interface found on a conventional smartwatch. The case is rated 5ATM, or 50m under the stated water-resistance rating. Withings’ US shop specifications and silver product page list these details.
The included 18mm FKM strap is listed by Withings support for wrists approximately 163–200mm around. Measure before ordering if you plan to wear that strap and have a smaller wrist; the metal bracelet may fit differently. Withings’ FAQ gives the strap range.
Health tracking: what it measures
Heart health
The watch offers on-demand ECG through the Withings ECG App, ECG-based screening for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), and irregular-rhythm notifications. It also tracks heart rate during the day and night, overnight heart-rate variability (HRV), and can alert users to high or low resting heart rates. Withings describes the ECG software as clinically evaluated and FDA-cleared for detecting signs of AFib in applicable markets. That describes a screening aid, not a diagnosis or a guarantee that every abnormal rhythm will be detected. An inconclusive reading can result from movement, poor skin contact, an unsuitable heart rate or hand placement; it is not, by itself, evidence of a heart problem.

Withings says ECG and irregular-rhythm features were not tested or intended for people with pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators or other implanted electronic devices. People with such devices should follow the product guidance and seek advice from their clinician before relying on these features. Feature availability can also vary by country. See Withings’ feature and safety information and its product guide.
Temperature, breathing and sleep
Temperature tracking records variation relative to the wearer’s baseline, including overnight trends and workout temperature zones. It is not a clinical thermometer and should not be used to diagnose a fever. Withings also lists blood-oxygen readings and nighttime averages, respiratory insights including a breathing-quality index, and sleep tracking for duration, stages, interruptions, regularity and a sleep score.
These measurements can help show patterns over time, but they do not replace clinical assessment. Temperature-based menstrual-cycle and fertility-related estimates are informational, not contraception or medical treatment.

Activity and fitness
Activity features include steps, calories, active minutes, elevation and floors, workout heart-rate zones, automatic activity detection and a VO2 Max estimate labeled “Fitness Level.” Route tracking uses connected GPS from a paired phone, not a GPS receiver built into the watch. Withings’ current feature list is on its US product page.
Smartwatch features—and the limits
The crown and OLED screen let you navigate watch information and view basic health data. The watch can display incoming smartphone notifications and caller information, provide vibration alerts, and sync data to the Withings App. It does not offer a conventional third-party app ecosystem, message replies, independent cellular calls, built-in GPS, maps, payments or the interactive touchscreen experience of an Apple, Samsung or Google smartwatch.
For mapped outdoor workouts, keep the phone with you and allow location access to the relevant app. If the phone is absent, Bluetooth is disconnected or location permissions are disabled, a workout may be recorded without a mapped route. Reviewers have also highlighted the GPS and exercise limitations at this price, including Tech Advisor’s review and Digital Trends’ review.

Battery life and charging
Withings claims up to 35 days of battery life and about two hours for a full charge. Actual endurance varies with notifications, workouts, measurements and other use. The watch’s small monochrome display and narrower feature set help explain how it can run longer between charges than many full smartwatches; that endurance comes with fewer interactive functions. The supplied charging dock is USB-C compatible, and the box includes a USB-C-to-USB-A cable. See the gold product specifications for the listed battery and charging details.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.App setup, compatibility and Withings+
Setup requires the Withings mobile app; the watch cannot be set up from a computer. The app syncs health data, and the product listing names Apple Health, Google Health Connect and Google Fit support. Withings’ official pages currently conflict on minimum phone software: its main US page lists iOS 16 or later and Android 9 or later, while a newer product-detail page lists iOS 18 or later and Android 12 or later. Confirm the requirement shown on the regional product page before buying. Compare the main US page with the newer product-detail page.
Withings+ is optional; the company says core health metrics and data access remain available without a subscription. The US listing has shown one month free followed by $9.95 per month or $99.50 per year for eligible new subscribers, including people who have not subscribed in the previous 12 months. These are time-sensitive terms, so check the plan and renewal details at checkout. A trial may convert to a paid plan automatically. Depending on location and current terms, Withings+ may add deeper analysis, guided programs, workout content, health-assistant features and services such as Cardio Check-Up.

Who is the Nova Brilliant for?
It makes sense if you want
- A conventional analog-watch appearance with a discreet digital display.
- Long intervals between charges and health trends such as sleep, heart rate, ECG and temperature variation.
- A smaller 39mm case and a Withings device that syncs with the same app ecosystem.
- Notifications on your wrist without needing to reply or run apps from the watch.
Look elsewhere if you need
- Built-in GPS for phone-free routes, or advanced training features for running and cycling.
- Maps, music, payments, cellular service, message replies or a broad app selection.
- A lower-cost fitness tracker, or a general-purpose smartwatch with more software capabilities for a similar outlay.
- A device that diagnoses a medical condition rather than providing screening and wellness information.
For an iPhone user who wants apps, calls, payments and built-in GPS, an Apple Watch serves a different, more interactive purpose. Samsung Galaxy Watch and Google Pixel Watch are alternatives for people prioritizing a full smartwatch experience. Buyers focused on training and sports metrics can compare Garmin. Within Withings’ lineup, the ScanWatch 2 or standard ScanWatch Nova may suit someone seeking the same ecosystem but willing to trade some of the Brilliant’s styling or materials. Prices and feature sets vary by model and market.
Verdict
The ScanWatch Nova Brilliant is best understood as a health-tracking hybrid watch with premium materials, analog styling and unusually long claimed battery life—not as a luxury mechanical watch or a full smartwatch. At $599.95 on the current US listing, its appeal depends on how much you value the design and long-wear health tracking. The missing built-in GPS and limited wrist-based interaction are substantial compromises if you want a single device for workouts and everyday smart features.
