The TAG Heuer Professional Golf Watch is an unusually literal piece of sports-watch design: its head locks into a cradle-like titanium case, the clasp is integrated into the structure, and the crown sits at 9 o’clock to keep it away from the wrist’s motion in a swing. That makes it more interesting than a conventional Tiger Woods-branded quartz watch—but its appeal today depends on whether you value that ergonomic experiment, can find the exact reference and an original strap, and are comfortable judging a discontinued collectible from limited market evidence.
Why did TAG Heuer design a watch specifically for golf?
Tiger Woods became associated with TAG Heuer in 2003 and worked with the brand on the Professional Golf Watch in 2005, according to Fratello’s retrospective published January 6, 2021. The 2006 iF Design Award record identifies TAG Heuer S.A. as the client and manufacturer and describes the watch as the first Professional Golf Watch developed and worn by Woods to meet golfers’ ergonomic needs.

The design answers practical concerns rather than simply adding golf-themed decoration. TAG Heuer’s award submission says the clasp was integrated so it would not hurt the wrist during play; an elastic silicone strap could adapt to changes in wrist diameter; and the crown was moved to 9 o’clock to avoid rubbing during the swing. The entry also describes the watch as slim and legible. These are the manufacturer’s stated design goals, not a published independent study of how golfers perform with the watch.
What makes the case and clasp unusual?
The watch head sits in a cradle-like case and locks into it, creating a distinctive, layered silhouette. Instead of a conventional watch with a separate buckle, the integrated fastening system is part of the case-and-strap design. The crown at 9 o’clock is another visible clue that the watch was organized around wrist movement and comfort rather than standard dress-watch conventions.

Dimensions vary by the source and example, so there is no single measurement to apply indiscriminately to every version. Fratello describes a 38 by 40 mm rectangular titanium case. Dorotheum’s catalogue for a WAE1110 gives an approximate width of 37 mm, while MasterHorologer’s 2008 model summary lists 37.5 by 36.7 by 10.5 mm. These figures may relate to different references or ways of measuring the shaped case.
What are the documented references and specifications?
Surviving descriptions cover several configurations. Reference details should be checked against the individual watch rather than treated as one universal specification: movement, materials, dimensions and dial/strap pairing can vary between listings.

The design-award entry states that the watch weighs 55 g and is impact-resistant up to 5,000 g, which TAG Heuer described as 45 times the impacts experienced during a game. Those figures come from the manufacturer’s 2006 submission; independent test documentation is not established by the cited award record.

Is it an appealing collectible now?
For a collector, the strongest case is its specificity. The off-center crown, cradle construction and integrated clasp are recognizable solutions to a real activity, not merely a conventional case carrying a sports celebrity’s name. The connection to Woods is documented in the 2006 award record, and the dated retrospective places the collaboration in the mid-2000s.

The flexible silicone strap is central to the watch’s look and fit, so originality and condition matter; no verified current replacement strap or service-part seller is established here. Before buying, compare the reference and dial/strap combination, inspect the clasp and case interface, and confirm what accessories are actually included. The auctioned WAE1110 included a warranty card, instructions, case and cardboard box, but that completeness should not be assumed for other examples.

Dorotheum’s Vienna sale on March 27, 2025 recorded €1,300 including buyer’s premium and VAT for WAE1110 lot 145-055187/0013, numbered 0569/8000. Its estimate was €600–€900. This is one historical transaction in one auction and geography, not a current valuation, market average, guaranteed resale price or appraisal.

When comparing another example, keep the variables visible rather than relying on the model name alone:
- Exact reference and dial/strap configuration.
- Case material and the dimensions given for that particular watch.
- Movement identification and documented function.
- Condition and originality of the strap and clasp.
- Whether box, papers, instructions or other accessories are included.
- Sale date, location and whether the stated result includes buyer’s premium and taxes.
Where can you look for one?
The model is discontinued, so a prospective buyer is looking for a pre-owned collectible rather than a current TAG Heuer offering. Search by the full name and by references such as WAE1110, WAE1111 or WAE1112; the Dorotheum sale shows that an auction house has handled a WAE1110, but it does not establish that a watch is currently available. Check the seller, reference, condition, originality and included items on any live listing before treating it as comparable to a past auction result.
