#WRUW means “What are you wearing?”—and, in Time+Tide’s feature, the answer is watches. A reader’s Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer sparked a gallery of community wrist shots, including several standouts called out by the publication.
What does #WRUW mean?
#WRUW is short for “What are you wearing?” Time+Tide used it specifically to ask readers to share the watches on their wrists, rather than their clothing. The feature was published on 23 July 2020, when readers responded to the publication’s Instagram stories with photos for a selected wrist-shot roundup. Time+Tide’s original #WRUW feature
The Root Beer wrist shot that started the roundup
The prompt began with Andrew sharing a photo of his Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer and captioning it #WRUW. Time+Tide then presented a set of reader images, describing the Root Beer look through its “rich chocolatey bezel and two-tone magnificence.” The feature does not identify Andrew’s watch by reference number, so the model name alone is as specific as the source allows.

- Rolex Datejust: The commentary points to a glistening blue dial while noting watches that work for dressing up at home or going out exploring.
- Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph: Named alongside the Datejust in the same observation about dressed-up watches and exploring.

- Timex Q on a matching leather strap: Also highlighted as an uncommon pairing; the feature does not identify the Q variant or specify the strap.
