The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Quartz Watch (SYB01) is a traditional quartz watch with a small activity subdial and a few Bluetooth-connected features—not a full smartwatch. It can count steps, vibrate for reminders and synchronize its time through Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. In 2026, its main drawback is that current app support and compatibility are unverified. Consider one only if it is inexpensive, returnable and the seller can demonstrate that it pairs with your phone.
What is the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Quartz Watch?
The Mijia Quartz is a hybrid analog watch: physical hour and minute hands, a secondary dial for activity progress, and Bluetooth features managed through a phone. It has no screen or touch controls. The watch is quartz-powered, not mechanical, and its “smart” functions depend on the Mi Home app. Historical reviews describe the model as SYB01. (Android Central; E-Catalog)

What can it do?
Basic activity tracking
The watch counts steps and reports estimates such as distance and calories through the app. Its small subdial indicates progress toward a daily step target, reported as up to 20,000 steps. Treat these as basic activity estimates, not medical measurements or a substitute for a sports watch: it has no GPS, heart-rate sensor, workout display or advanced health-tracking platform. Time synchronization, alarms and reminders
When connected successfully, the watch can synchronize its time with the phone, including time-zone changes. Historical reviews also describe alarms, movement reminders and vibration alerts. One review reports support for as many as 10 alarms; treat that as a historical specification, not a guarantee for a current app setup. Synchronization depends on Bluetooth, Mi Home access and the phone’s own time settings. (Android Central; ThePhonograph)
Limited phone alerts
Historical coverage describes vibration for calls and, in some accounts, messages. The behavior appears limited and may depend on selected contacts or phone software. Do not buy it expecting message previews, arbitrary app notifications, or the ability to respond from the watch. (ThePhonograph; Have You Design)

Design and everyday wear
The 40 mm steel case, analog hands and restrained face give it the appearance of a conventional minimalist watch rather than a fitness band. The activity subdial is the visible concession to its connected features. It has no bright screen, app marketplace or charging dock, which may suit someone who wants a low-distraction watch.
Historical coverage describes a leather strap with a replaceable design; Android Central reports a 20 mm width. Confirm the exact strap attachment and condition on the individual watch before ordering replacement straps, especially if buying used. (Android Central)

Mi Home pairing and current phone compatibility
The watch historically used Mi Home, not Mi Fit. Do not assume that Mi Fitness, Zepp or Amazfit apps can pair with it, or that it will appear automatically in Xiaomi’s current wearable ecosystem. Historical Android and iOS support claims—including a review’s MIUI 9 and iOS 9 minimum for some call-reminder functions—do not establish compatibility with current operating systems. No current 2026 support statement is established here. (Android Central; ThePhonograph)
Historical reviews describe this pairing flow. App screens and requirements may have changed, so a successful demonstration on the phone and in the buyer’s region matters more than the old instructions. (Android Central; ThePhonograph; Gadgetpage)

- Install Mi Home and place the watch near the phone.
- Press and hold the watch’s side button for about five seconds, until it vibrates and enters pairing mode.
- Use Mi Home to add the watch, then allow time and activity data to synchronize.
If pairing fails, first check that you are using Mi Home, Bluetooth permissions are enabled and the battery is not depleted. The watch may not be in pairing mode or may remain bound to another account. Historical instructions describe removing the device from its previous phone or account before trying again. Do not assume that changing the app’s region will solve the problem; success is not established for current app versions. (Gadgetpage)
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Battery life and replacement
Coverage commonly puts the CR2430 cell’s life at about six months, while Android Central reports up to a year. Those are historical estimates, not a promise for an aged watch; frequent vibration and synchronization can affect runtime. A “new” old-stock watch may have a cell that has self-discharged during storage. (Android Central; E-Catalog)

The cell is replaceable, but reaching it requires opening the case back. A battery change can disturb or damage the gasket. Unless the seal is inspected, correctly refitted and tested, treat water resistance as compromised after the case has been opened.
Water resistance: keep expectations conservative
The watch is listed as 3 ATM (3 bar or 30 WR), but published guidance conflicts: Android Central says its reviewer considered pool use suitable, while E-Catalog says swimming is not recommended. For an old or second-hand watch with unknown seal condition, treat the rating as splash and hand-washing resistance only. Avoid swimming, diving and hot showers. (Android Central; E-Catalog)
What to check before buying one in 2026
The exact Mijia Quartz is now best approached as an old-stock or second-hand product. Current official availability, a current official price and confirmed 2026 Mi Home support have not been established. Clubic’s product page shows no available offer in one market, which does not determine availability everywhere. Historical prices—about $40 in Android Central’s review period and about $52 in a launch-era report—are not current price guidance. (Clubic; Android Central; Gadgadget)
- Confirm that the case or documentation identifies the model as SYB01.
- Ask the seller to demonstrate a successful Mi Home pairing with a current phone, not just provide an old screenshot.
- Check that the hands, activity subdial, button and vibration all work.
- Ask whether the CR2430 is new and when it was installed; inspect for corrosion or other signs of leakage if possible.
- Check the strap, buckle, case back and gasket condition, and ask whether the seller accepts returns.
- Set a price low enough that you would still be satisfied if it works only as a basic quartz watch.
If the watch shows the wrong time or its hands stop, consider a depleted cell, hands disturbed during battery replacement, or failed phone synchronization; also confirm that the phone’s time zone is correct. If the activity dial does not move, remember that it is an activity-progress indicator, not a second time zone or a conventional chronograph. (Android Central)

It may suit
- Someone who wants a traditional analog appearance and only basic step tracking.
- A collector or bargain hunter willing to accept legacy app risk and the possibility of using it without connected features.
- A buyer who can verify pairing before purchase and has a meaningful return option.
Look elsewhere if you need
- Heart-rate, sleep, GPS, SpO₂, ECG or detailed workout tracking.
- Reliable modern notifications, message previews or interaction from the wrist.
- Swimming use, active manufacturer support, a warranty or assured current-phone compatibility.
A newer hybrid watch is a better fit if analog styling matters but you want active software support. A fitness tracker makes more sense if health sensors and app reliability matter more than a traditional face. If you want each function dependable, a basic quartz watch paired with a separate tracker avoids relying on a discontinued device’s app.
