Zara and John Galliano launched Re{form} Zara by John Galliano: Vol. 1 on October 1, 2026. The first collection in a two-year creative partnership reconstructs pieces from Zara’s archive using couture-informed techniques. Vogue reported that it was available to shop online worldwide at launch; current stock and prices depend on the market and should be checked with Zara.
What is Zara’s Re{form} Vol. 1?
Re{form} is a collaboration in which Galliano reworks garments from Zara’s own archive rather than designing a conventional standalone line. He told Vogue, “I’ve been curating some of Zara’s recent archives,” adding, “The idea is that I will re-author them.” The collection’s fuller season label, reported by Numero Tokyo, is “Re{form} Vol. 1 09/2026.”
The partnership was announced as a two-year creative collaboration, with seasonal collections built around the idea of re-authoring Zara’s archives through a couture process. Vol. 1 is its debut chapter.
How does Galliano transform the archive pieces?
Launch coverage describes an approach based on cutting, dismantling and reassembling existing pieces. Reported methods include bias-cut dresses, trompe-l’œil layering that reveals linings or underwear, garments transformed into new forms, and modular layers that can create different silhouettes.

The references are deliberately mixed: Numero Tokyo cites Les Incroyables and Les Merveilleuses, flamboyant figures associated with post-Revolutionary France, alongside classic menswear and gardening-wear elements. The collection notes quoted by Wallpaper* describe Re{form} as “an act of revolution, reconstruction and renewal… the couturier’s exchange with the archives of the fashion purveyor.”
What pieces are in the collection?
Vogue’s launch feature shows ready-to-wear, tailoring, costume-like outerwear and accessories. Featured examples include a dotted mesh dress, striped shirt, wrap skirt, asymmetric wool coat, cashmere sweater, leather gloves and contrast-fabric pants. The dotted mesh dress is one identifiable piece, but the coverage does not establish its current availability in any particular market.

Numero Tokyo also describes the Tri-Chic, a reversible bag with straps and a metal chain that can be carried as a handbag, shoulder bag or backpack. Headwear created with Stephen Jones, a longtime Galliano collaborator, includes reworked caps, fisherman hats and straw hats.
For shoppers comparing pieces, the useful distinctions are garment type, material, silhouette and fit, and how much sheerness or layered construction a design uses. When did the collection launch, and where can it be found?
Re{form} Vol. 1 launched on October 1, 2026. Vogue reported worldwide online availability at launch. That does not confirm that every piece remains in stock everywhere: availability, local listings and prices can change, so verify them directly with Zara for your market.
What does the collaboration mean for Zara and Galliano?
The project puts Galliano’s couture-informed process to work on Zara archive garments, framing reconstruction as the collection’s central creative idea. Galliano described the work as “really sustainable from a creative point of view.” That is his characterization of the creative process, not evidence of a measured environmental benefit or a claim about the collection’s materials, production footprint or overall sustainability.

Why has the launch drawn scrutiny?
The launch arrived amid renewed public scrutiny of Galliano’s history of antisemitic remarks and his 2011 hate-crime conviction, as well as controversy around a planned Met exhibition of his work that was cancelled. The Guardian covered the public backlash surrounding the collaboration; Wallpaper* also reported Galliano’s withdrawal from the exhibition. The collection’s design concept and its reception are distinct parts of the story: the former centers on reworking Zara’s archive, while the latter reflects the history and controversy attached to its named collaborator.
