What Zenith’s 50-year offer actually covered
The benefit was created for the El Primero A386 Revival, released for the El Primero’s 50th anniversary. Zenith’s pressroom described three gold versions—white, rose and yellow gold—as limited editions of 50 pieces each, with a 50-year guarantee. Zenith’s benefit page calls it the “El Primero A386 Revival Warranty Benefit.” It was not a general warranty for every Zenith watch.
Zenith’s 2019 pressroom announcement describes the anniversary models and their guarantee; the official benefit terms explain the coverage conditions.
Why the coverage is more than a long defect guarantee
Zenith says the special benefit covers manufacturing defects, normal wear and tear of components, and the cost of all servicing during the period. Including routine service costs and normal component wear makes the promise broader than a warranty limited to faults caused by manufacturing.

That breadth should not be read as an unlimited promise to pay for every repair. The published page does not itemize covered procedures, parts, labor or transport, and it states no monetary ceiling. It therefore does not establish how much an owner might save over 50 years or whether a particular repair would be covered. Confirm the specific work and costs with Zenith before relying on the benefit.

For an owner, the practical distinction is between normal component wear, which Zenith says is covered, and excluded strap wear or damage tied to mishandling or missed checks. The terms do not provide a more detailed component-by-component list.
How it compares with Zenith’s general warranty
Zenith’s separate international warranty page describes the general warranty, not the special A386 Revival benefit. Its published terms provide a two-year guarantee against manufacturing flaws, plus three additional years for qualifying watches purchased from January 1, 2022 and registered online. The general warranty excludes ordinary effects of wear, such as strap wear and scratches, and requires authorized purchase and valid documentation.

Zenith’s general-warranty FAQ includes questions about pre-owned registration and transferring an extension to another owner, but those questions concern the general extension and do not settle transferability of the A386 Revival benefit. A second-hand buyer should ask Zenith or an authorized service center to confirm eligibility for the specific watch before purchase.
How to judge the offer fairly
When comparing this benefit with another watch warranty, look beyond the number of years. Compare the eligible model, whether normal wear and service costs are included, what procedures and expenses are covered, the purchase and registration rules, required maintenance, exclusions, and resale transfer terms. Zenith’s terms support a strong headline benefit for the original anniversary watches, but the published information does not support ranking it against a named competitor or assigning it a dollar value.
