For a winter-inspired watch, “polar” usually describes the look rather than a proven ability to run in extreme cold. These six picks span two white-dial GMTs, a ceramic pilot chronograph, a dive watch, a more affordable full-ceramic option and a high-end independent design. Their specifications and prices below are reported by Monochrome Watches; they are not results of a standardized comparison test.
How to choose a polar white watch
Start with the watch’s job, then consider how much of its design you want to read as “winter.” A white dial can deliver the look on a conventional steel case, as with the Rolex, Tudor and Longines. The IWC, Earthen Co. and Urwerk use white ceramic for a more distinctive material statement, though their dials and functions differ substantially.
- For travel or a second time zone: consider the Rolex Explorer II or Tudor Black Bay Pro Polar, both with GMT indications.
- For a pilot-chronograph layout: the IWC pairs a black dial with a white ceramic case.
- For diving-oriented specifications: the Longines offers 300 m water resistance; the other dive-styled option, Earthen Co.’s Summit, is rated to 100 m.
- For a more unusual display: Urwerk’s satellite wandering hours and retrograde minutes depart from conventional hands and indices.
None of the cited material establishes comparative performance in subzero temperatures. Treat “winter” as an aesthetic theme, not a cold-weather rating.

#1 Best Overall
- Stainless steel / mineral
White-dial GMTs: Rolex Explorer II and Tudor Black Bay Pro
Rolex Explorer II 226570 “Polar”
The Rolex is the larger of the two GMT choices at 42 mm. Its white lacquered dial, dark outlines around the markers and hands, and bright orange GMT hand create strong contrast. A fixed 24-hour scale supports the second-time-zone display. The guide lists 100 m water resistance and a 70-hour reserve from calibre 3285.
Choose it if you want the classic explorer-style layout and a larger steel watch. The reported price is EUR 10,300, but it should be treated as a guide figure rather than a current quote.

- Brushed stainless steel watch featuring sunray dial with blue second hand, luminous hour and minute hands, and small date window
- 42 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Japanese quartz movement with analog display
- Silver-tone band with fold-over clasp closure
- Water resistant to 30 m (99 ft)
Tudor Black Bay Pro Polar
At 39 mm, the Tudor is the more compact GMT in this pair. Its opaline dial and yellow GMT hand give it a warmer accent than the Rolex’s orange pointer. The guide lists a fixed 24-hour bezel, date, up to 70 hours of reserve and 200 m water resistance.
The article gives two different starting prices: EUR 4,080 in its prose and EUR 4,050 in its quick facts, with EUR 4,410 as the upper figure in both. Check current regional pricing and the exact configuration rather than relying on either starting price.

- Precise Japan Quartz Movement - Accuracy: ±20 seconds per month
- Stainless Steel Case and Band . Push Button Deployment Clasp
- Mineral Crystal, Day/Date Display
- Case Size: 39.8 mm Diameter, 8.8 mm Thickness
- Water Resistant - 50M
Pilot chronograph in white ceramic: IWC Lake Tahoe
The TOP GUN Lake Tahoe reverses the expected white-dial formula: its case is white ceramic, while the dial is black with white markings and hands. That makes it the pick for someone seeking a snow-white exterior without a pale dial. The source lists IWC calibre 69380, a 46-hour reserve, 60 m water resistance and a white rubber strap.
Do not rely on the source’s stated case size: it says 41 mm in the article text and 44.5 mm in the quick facts. Verify the current manufacturer specification if fit is decisive. Monochrome reports EUR 12,900.
Rank #4
- Round silver-tone watch featuring white dial with stick indices, luminous hands, and mini date window
- 39 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Movement: Conventional Battery G111, Japanese quartz movement with analog display.
- Croco-embossed leather band with buckle closure
- Water resistant to 50 m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not diving or snorkeling
Dive watches: Longines and Earthen Co.
Longines Legend Diver 39mm White
Longines offers the most substantial stated water-resistance rating among these six, at 300 m. Its 39 mm compressor-style design uses two crowns to operate the inner rotating bezel, keeping the timing scale under the crystal. The reported specification includes calibre L888.6, a 72-hour reserve and a beads-of-rice bracelet.
The guide gives two prices, EUR 3,750 and EUR 3,800, so confirm the current price and the exact bracelet or other configuration before purchase.

Earthen Co. Summit “Whiteout”
The Summit is the lower-priced ceramic alternative in this selection by the guide’s reported figures. Its 38 mm white ceramic case contrasts with a black dial, and it is listed with a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, 100 m water resistance and two interchangeable rubber sailcloth straps. The guide reports USD 899 and says the initial batch was limited to 100 pieces per color, with restocks expected. That does not establish present stock or price; check with the maker.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A very different ceramic option: Urwerk UR-230 Polaris
The UR-230 Polaris is not a conventional white-dial watch or a value alternative to the other picks. Its all-white ceramic design frames Urwerk’s wandering-hour satellite display and retrograde minutes. The source reports a 48-hour reserve, 30 m water resistance, a white Velcro-closing rubber strap and a production run of 35 pieces. Its reported price is CHF 150,000 before taxes.
Do these watches “battle the winter cold”?
The sources support a winter or polar aesthetic and list standard product specifications such as water resistance and power reserve. They do not provide a comparative cold-temperature test or a cold-weather operating rating for these six watches. Do not infer subzero suitability from a white dial, ceramic case or a model name.
One additional polar-themed option is the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic White Luminous. Nivada’s product page lists a 38 mm stainless-steel case, white dial, automatic Soprod P024 movement with a 38-hour reserve, sapphire crystal and 100 m water resistance, with several strap and bracelet options. Nivada says of the original Antarctic model: “The original Antarctic model was worn during daring expeditions, proving its resilience in extreme conditions.” That is the manufacturer’s historical claim, not independent verification or evidence of cold testing for the current watch: Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic White Luminous.
