Born on November 4, 1969, Matthew David McConaughey is an American actor and producer. His acting skill was first recognized in a supporting role in the 1993 coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused. After a few more supporting roles, McConaughey landed a leading man role in 1996 in the drama film A Time to Kill. However, he got more popular with romantic comedies such as The Wedding Planner, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Fool’s Gold.
McConaughey took a 2-year acting break in 2009, and when he came back, he took more dramatic roles such as in The Lincoln Lawyer, Bernie, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Killer Joe. He also received an Academy Award for Best Actor in his performance as Ron Woodroof in the 2013 biopic Dallas Buyers Club. He also won a Critic’s Choice Award for his performance in the HBO TV Series True Detective.
