The 2025 Richard Lange Jumping Seconds and 1815 Tourbillon are separate precision-focused watches, not variations of one model. The Richard Lange centers a large jumping-seconds display and uses a constant-force escapement; the 1815 places its tourbillon at 6 o’clock and combines stop-seconds with ZERO-RESET. The new Richard Lange is white gold with a pink-gold dial and limited to 100 watches, while the new 1815 Tourbillon is platinum with a black enamel dial and limited to 50.
What changed in the 2025 editions?
A. Lange & Söhne’s 2025 Richard Lange Jumping Seconds is the family’s fourth model version. Its 750 white-gold case surrounds a 750 pink-gold dial, and the edition is limited to 100 watches. The case measures 39.9 mm across and 10.6 mm high. The brand’s current product page also lists a white-gold version with a black dial, reference 252.029, alongside the pink-gold-dial reference 252.056; these are distinct listed versions, so check the reference when comparing listings. The 2025 1815 Tourbillon reference 730.094F pairs a 950-platinum case with a jet-black Grand Feu enamel dial. A. Lange & Söhne limits this edition to 50 watches. Its diameter is 39.5 mm and its height is 11.3 mm. The current 1815 Tourbillon collection page also lists reference 730.079F with a white enamel dial, limited to 100, and reference 730.032F in pink gold with an argenté dial. A. How do the displays differ?
Richard Lange Jumping Seconds: a triangular regulator layout
The Richard Lange uses a regulator-style arrangement: seconds occupy the large central circle, while hours and minutes appear in smaller circles at lower left and lower right. That makes seconds the most prominent reading rather than placing all three hands on a conventional central dial. A small triangular indicator turns red ten hours before the power reserve is depleted. The dial design draws inspiration from chronometer No. 93 by Johann Heinrich Seyffert. A. 1815 Tourbillon: conventional time display, tourbillon at six
The 1815 Tourbillon presents hours and minutes in a more conventional arrangement, with Arabic numerals and a railway-track minute scale. Its tourbillon is visible through an aperture at 6 o’clock. The black-dial edition’s Grand Feu enamel gives it a different visual emphasis from the multi-register Richard Lange.
What does a jumping seconds watch do?
On the Richard Lange, the seconds hand advances once each second rather than sweeping continuously. Its manually wound calibre L094.1 has a constant-force escapement: energy from the mainspring is delivered as an impulse every second, and that impulse also advances the seconds hand. In this design, the hand jumps 60 times per minute. A. Lange & Söhne states that the movement contains 390 parts and is assembled twice. The sapphire caseback shows the movement and its finishing. A. What ZERO-RESET does on the Richard Lange
Pulling the crown activates ZERO-RESET, which makes the seconds hand jump to zero through a multi-disc clutch. This provides a clear starting point when setting the watch; it is separate from the constant-force mechanism that drives the once-per-second impulses.
How does the 1815 Tourbillon stop seconds?
The 1815 Tourbillon uses calibre L102.1, with a stated power reserve of 72 hours and a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. Its stop-seconds device stops the tourbillon when the crown is pulled. ZERO-RESET then moves the seconds hand to zero, allowing the wearer to align the minute hand with a minute marker when setting the time. A. Lange & Söhne’s 1815 Tourbillon product page

A. Lange & Söhne describes the rotating tourbillon cage as changing the balance’s position to compensate for gravity’s influence on the oscillating system. That is the manufacturer’s stated purpose; it is not evidence that this watch has better measured accuracy than the Richard Lange. The black-dial model also features black-polished tourbillon components and a diamond endstone secured by a screwed gold chaton. A. Lange & Söhne’s 1815 Tourbillon product page

Which watch suits which interest?
- Choose the Richard Lange as the closer fit if you are drawn to a seconds-first dial, a once-per-second hand, and the technical pairing of constant force with jumping seconds. Its layout is deliberately less conventional than a standard hours-and-minutes display.
- Choose the 1815 Tourbillon as the closer fit if you prefer a more traditional time display and want the tourbillon to be the visual and mechanical focus. Its crown-operated stop-seconds and ZERO-RESET are specifically useful for setting the time against a precise minute marker.
- Compare the exact references, not just family names if dial or case material is decisive: both collections include other versions on the manufacturer’s current pages, and the 2025 limited editions are not the only listed configurations.
The manufacturer’s specifications establish how the mechanisms are designed to work, but the cited information does not provide independent accuracy tests or current retail prices. The tourbillon’s stated gravity-compensation purpose should therefore not be read as a measured accuracy advantage over the Richard Lange.
