Audemars Piguet introduced 38 mm as a new case size for the Code 11.59 Selfwinding family, describing it as designed with smaller wrists in mind. The launch pair came in 18-carat pink gold with purple or ivory embossed dials and Calibre 5900. Other official 38 mm references add different dial colours and straps, so the details are best compared by reference rather than assumed to be shared across the range.
What is new about the 38 mm Code 11.59?
The change is a smaller case option within the Code 11.59 Selfwinding family. In its “Design in motion” article, Audemars Piguet says, “The new 38 mm Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding has been designed with smaller wrists in mind.” That describes the intended fit, not a guarantee that the watch will suit every wrist; trying it on remains the clearest way to judge proportions.
The launch pair combines 18-carat pink gold with purple or ivory dials bearing the collection’s embossed signature pattern. Audemars Piguet says the latest dial design was developed with Swiss guilloché craftsman Yann von Kaenel. Subsequent references broaden the colour and strap choices, but not every listed specification applies to every version.

The launch article describes the original pair as purple- and ivory-dial models. Its ivory wording should not be treated as the exact dial name on every later product page.
What does Calibre 5900 offer?
Audemars Piguet identifies Calibre 5900 in the new 38 mm pair. The brand’s stated figures are a 60-hour power reserve and a frequency of 4 Hz, equivalent to 28,800 vibrations per hour. The silver-grey reference’s individual product page also gives a movement thickness of 3.9 mm. These are brand-published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

How to choose between the references
- Start with the dial and strap combination: the documented options range from beige with matching alligator to prune, silver-grey with camel calfskin, and “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50.”
