Comic artist Adam Kubert created the dial illustration and lapel-pin artwork for Citizen’s “Stark, Kinda Sorta Famous” Iron Man watch, reference AW2095-41W. His central design challenge was making Iron Man feel dynamic and recognizable in the confined space of a watch dial.
How Adam Kubert translated Iron Man to a watch dial
In Fratello’s October 21, 2025 interview, Kubert described aiming for an image that felt unmistakably like the character: “You want to make the character look as iconic as possible.” He also said, “I think of how he lands, how he flies. I wanted him flying right at us.”
The result places Iron Man flying toward the viewer from the lower area of the dial. The image is deliberately asymmetrical, helping preserve a sense of motion rather than making the artwork feel static. Luminous details—including Iron Man’s eyes, arc reactor and flight trail—give the illustration emphasis in low light. Citizen’s designers also used gold plating and lume on elements of Kubert’s artwork. Read the Fratello interview with Adam Kubert.
The watch and pin as two comic panels
The set pairs the watch with an Iron Man lapel pin showing another moment of the character in flight. Kubert viewed the watch and pin as adjacent comic panels: separate images that together suggest a continuing action. The pin and presentation box are also listed as included items by the retailer.

Citizen’s Eco-Drive movement uses light as its power source. Disney’s product listing states that a full charge can run the watch for six months in darkness; that figure is the listing’s stated reserve, not a promise of identical performance under every use condition.
