Airain’s Sous-Marine Re-Edition is a modern 200 m-rated dive watch that the brand presents as a revival of its 1962 model. What is the Airain Sous-Marine?
The Sous-Marine is Airain’s contemporary dive-watch collection, with the brand describing the re-edition as based on its 1962 watch. Airain says the design retains the earlier model’s case shape, dial layout and Parmentier crown system, while using modern materials and engineering. Those heritage and fidelity statements are the manufacturer’s account; the available independent coverage does not establish the original watch’s provenance in archival detail.
The collection includes several dial and bezel treatments, among them Ocean Green, Tropical, Faded Black, Deep Blue, DNA Strand and Lollipop. What distinguishes the DNA Strand version?
The DNA Strand’s defining visual detail is its seconds hand, which differs from the Lollipop version’s hand design. That is a useful way to distinguish two closely related versions; dial and bezel colors are other collection-level differences. Airain’s current collection listings show these variations, but do not establish that every one is in stock at any given time.

The watch also has a black unidirectional bezel with a black PVD coating, a date display and a double-domed sapphire crystal with interior anti-reflective coating, according to Airain’s DNA Strand product page.
Why the Parmentier crown gives it character
Rather than relying on a conventional exposed screw-down crown, the Sous-Marine uses a crown covered by a protective cap. Airain calls this the Parmentier Crown and credits its development to Jean-René Parmentier. The brand says the cap and integrated seal were intended to support water resistance, and presents the mechanism as a defining feature carried over from the original design. The 37.5 mm case diameter makes the DNA Strand relatively compact by contemporary dive-watch standards, while the 48.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement is another useful fit reference. Case shape and wrist size affect how those numbers wear, so they are not a substitute for trying the watch on. The 200 m figure is a manufacturer rating, not a guarantee that the watch is suitable for every dive or use condition.
What comes with the watch?
Airain lists both a black Tropic-style FKM rubber strap with quick-release pins and a FixoFlex stainless-steel bracelet as included. That gives the owner two distinct wearing options without needing to buy a separate bracelet or rubber strap. The 20 mm lug width identifies the general size category for compatible replacements; check a specific strap’s dimensions and spring-bar compatibility before buying it.

Price, warranty and dated launch context
Airain currently lists the DNA Strand at €2,050 and states that it includes a two-year global warranty. Prices and availability can change, and the brand’s current listing is the relevant reference for a purchase. Fratello reported a €1,550 launch-era price in its June 26, 2023 coverage; that is historical context, not the current price.
