Apple’s battery figures distinguish earbud listening from total listening with the case, and comfort remains personal: a secure seal does not guarantee a comfortable fit.
What changed in AirPods Pro 3?
Apple announced AirPods Pro 3 on September 9, 2025, with store availability beginning September 19 and a U.S. launch price of $249. That is the announced launch price, not a current retail-price check. The main changes for an owner deciding whether to buy are Apple’s stronger noise-cancellation claim, heart-rate sensing during workouts, and a redesigned fit.
Apple says the active noise cancellation is up to twice as effective as AirPods Pro 2 and four times as effective as the original AirPods Pro. Those are manufacturer comparisons, not independent measurements established by the reviews discussed here. TechRadar reported a positive listening impression of the cancellation, but that subjective experience does not validate Apple’s comparative figures.
Heart-rate sensing adds a fitness feature to the earbuds themselves. MacRumors’ November 4, 2025 review excerpt says its readings were almost identical to Apple Watch readings, but the accessible excerpt does not establish a test protocol. For someone who already wears a watch or fitness tracker, the feature may be convenient rather than a reason to replace the existing device.

How long does the battery last?
Apple specifies up to eight hours of listening on a charge with ANC enabled, or up to 7.5 hours when Spatial Audio and head tracking are also enabled. With workout heart-rate sensing, Apple lists up to 6.5 hours. The case brings the stated total to up to 24 hours with ANC on. These are Apple maximums, not a promise of the same runtime for every listener or setting; Apple says its testing used preproduction AirPods Pro 3 with prerelease software.
That distinction matters: eight hours refers to the earbuds on a charge, while 24 hours includes charging from the case. TechRadar describes battery life as a trade-off, while MacRumors’ excerpt says battery life held up well in its testing. Neither impression removes the need to compare Apple’s figures with your own listening habits, particularly if you use Spatial Audio or heart-rate sensing.

Do AirPods Pro 3 fit better?
Apple redesigned the earbuds and includes five tip sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, and L. The extra sizing options may help you find a stable seal, but they cannot guarantee a comfortable fit for every ear.
Android Central’s reviewer found the earbuds secure during a 5K run, yet uncomfortable for personal wear; the reviewer also noted that moving up a tip size to improve the seal could make comfort worse. That is one person’s experience, not a universal verdict. If you can, try the fit before committing, and assess comfort over the kind of listening session you actually expect—not only whether the earbuds stay in during movement.

Apple says AirPods Pro ear tips are not interchangeable between generations. If replacing tips, check that they are made for your exact AirPods Pro model. Apple’s ear-tip attachment guide explains how to remove and attach them.
Are AirPods Pro 3 worth upgrading to from AirPods Pro 2?
Upgrade if one of the new features solves a real problem: you want stronger noise cancellation, want heart-rate sensing without relying on a separate device, or are ready to try a different fit. Apple also lists hearing features and Live Translation among the product capabilities, but Live Translation was announced as a beta feature with region and language limitations. Check Apple’s current availability for your location rather than assuming every announced feature is available to you.

Keeping AirPods Pro 2 is reasonable if they already fit comfortably, their noise cancellation is sufficient, and you do not need the workout sensing. Android Central considers the upgrade less compelling for some Pro 2 owners. That is a useful reminder that a newer model is not automatically better value when the existing pair still handles your everyday use.

Apple says full functionality requires pairing with an Apple device running the latest operating system. The earbuds can connect over Bluetooth to non-Apple devices, but Apple warns that functionality may be limited. If you are buying them primarily for Android, weigh the features you can use on your device rather than assuming the entire Apple feature set will carry over.

For charging, the case supports MagSafe, an Apple Watch charger, Qi-certified charging, and USB-C. AirPods Pro 3 carry an IP57 dust, sweat, and water-resistance rating based on controlled laboratory testing. Apple describes them for exercise and non-water sports; that rating is not a recommendation to swim with them.
