The Amazfit Active 2 Square is the square-format version of Amazfit’s Active 2 fitness smartwatch. Announced on June 17, 2025, it launched in the U.S. at $149.99; Amazfit’s U.S. store has recently listed it at $129.99, reduced from $149.99, although prices and availability vary by region and can change.
Its main attractions are a 1.75-inch AMOLED display, sapphire glass, built-in GPS, offline route guidance, more than 160 workout modes, and an official battery estimate of up to 10 days in typical use. That figure falls to up to five days under Amazfit’s heavy-use rating and up to 21 hours with continuous GPS.

What is the Amazfit Active 2 Square?
The Active 2 Square is a lifestyle and fitness smartwatch that runs Amazfit’s Zepp OS and works with Android phones and iPhones through the Zepp app. It is not positioned as a full replacement for an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch: its strengths are fitness tracking, sleep insights, GPS workouts, notifications, and long battery life rather than cellular service or a broad third-party app ecosystem.
Amazfit describes the Square as offering the general Active 2 experience in a square case, with a larger display than the round model. The round Active 2 launched at $99.99 for the standard version and $129.99 for the premium version, while the Square launched separately at $149.99 with its own design and strap bundle. See Amazfit’s launch announcement and round Active 2 announcement for the original model context.

Price and availability
The U.S. launch price was $149.99. A recent listing on Amazfit’s official U.S. store showed the Active 2 Square at $129.99, but that is a promotional price signal rather than a permanent MSRP. Check the official product page before buying, particularly if you are shopping outside the United States.
Design and display
The Square has a stainless-steel bezel around a fiber-reinforced polymer case. It measures 43.32 × 36.9 × 9 mm and weighs 31.4 grams without the strap. Two physical buttons supplement the touchscreen, and the watch uses a 20-mm strap.
- Display: 1.75-inch AMOLED
- Resolution: 390 × 450 pixels, 341 ppi
- Brightness: up to 2,000 nits peak
- Cover: sapphire glass
- Water resistance: 5 ATM
- Audio hardware: built-in microphone and speaker
- Vibration: rotor vibration motor
AMOLED provides strong contrast, vivid colors, and deep blacks. The square layout can also make notifications, maps, and workout metrics easier to scan than a small round screen. Sapphire is more scratch-resistant than ordinary chemically strengthened glass, but it is not immune to cracks or other damage. Similarly, 2,000 nits is a peak-brightness figure, not a promise that the display remains at that level continuously.

Battery life: the 10-day claim in context
Amazfit’s headline estimate is “up to 10 days,” but the company publishes several different figures:
| Usage mode | Official estimate |
|---|---|
| Typical use | Up to 10 days |
| Battery-saver mode | Up to 19 days |
| Heavy use | Up to 5 days |
| Continuous GPS | Up to 21 hours |
The watch has a 260 mAh battery and takes approximately two hours to charge using its magnetic base. Always-on display, frequent GPS workouts, high brightness, continuous health measurements, Bluetooth calls, music use, frequent notifications, and poor Bluetooth connectivity can all reduce endurance. Amazfit specifically warns that always-on display can greatly shorten battery life in its support documentation.

- STYLISH DESIGN, VIBRANT DISPLAY: The lightweight aluminum build blends effortless style with workout durability, while the vivid 1.97" AMOLED display keeps your data easy to read, even under bright sunlight.
- ALL-IN-ONE ACTIVITY TRACKING: The Amazfit Bip 6 fitness tracker watch offers 140+ workout modes including HYROX Race and Strength Training, plus personalized AI coaching and 50m water resistance.
- UP TO 14 DAYS BATTERY LIFE: The Amazfit Bip 6 smart watch powers through your training and recovery for up to two weeks at a time - no nightly charging needed.
- ACCURATE GPS TRACKING & NAVIGATION: Stay on course with free downloadable maps and turn-by-turn directions. Support from 5 satellite systems ensures precise tracking of every move and fast GPS connection.
- 24/7 HEALTH MONITORING: The Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch provides precise, real-time monitoring of heart rate, sleep, blood-oxygen and stress, empowering you with actionable insights to optimize your health and fitness.
In practical terms, the 10-day figure is most relevant to someone using the watch for ordinary notifications, health trends, and occasional workouts with conservative display settings. A runner recording long GPS sessions or using always-on display should plan around the heavy-use and GPS figures instead. Community reports vary widely and are not a substitute for standardized testing.
Health and fitness tracking
The Active 2 Square uses Amazfit’s BioTracker 6.0 PPG biometric sensor for features including heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen measurements, stress tracking, and skin-temperature tracking. Sleep tools cover sleep stages including REM, sleep heart-rate variability, naps, and sleep breathing quality. The watch also provides readiness, heart-rate recovery, menstrual-cycle tracking, PAI health assessment, breathing exercises, and high- or low-heart-rate and low-blood-oxygen alerts.
For workouts, Amazfit lists more than 160 sports modes, including running, walking, cycling, yoga, padel, strength training, and skiing. Other features include HYROX Race Mode, automatic recognition and counting for some strength exercises, Zepp Coach training plans, readiness and recovery insights, live workout data, and turn-direction broadcasting.
Amazfit says its PulsePrecision algorithm improves heart-rate tracking and its RestoreIQ algorithm improves sleep monitoring compared with other Amazfit products. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent clinical validation. The watch’s heart-rate, blood-oxygen, stress, temperature, and sleep readings are wellness estimates that can be affected by fit, movement, cold skin, sweat, tattoos, circulation, and individual physiology. They should not be used for diagnosis or emergency decisions.
GPS, offline maps, and route guidance
The watch supports positioning through five satellite systems and can follow imported routes with turn-by-turn directions. Routes are prepared or transferred through the Zepp app, and directions can appear on the watch or be broadcast through its speaker or connected Bluetooth headphones.

Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The user manual identifies support for route files including GPX, TCX, and KML. That makes the Square useful for following a prepared running, walking, or cycling route, but “offline maps” should not be read as equivalent to full Google Maps-style destination planning or the cartography and routing intelligence of a dedicated outdoor watch.

Import routes before leaving phone coverage. GPS performance can be affected by tall buildings, dense trees, mountains, and poor satellite visibility, while GPS use consumes much more power than ordinary smartwatch operation. The published connectivity specifications list Bluetooth 5.2 and BLE, not cellular connectivity, so this is not an independent LTE navigation or calling watch.
Smart features and compatibility
The Active 2 Square supports Android 7.0 and later and iOS 15.0 and later. The Zepp app is required for setup, synchronization, settings, and software updates.
- App, SMS, and phone-call notifications
- Bluetooth music control
- Find My Phone
- Weather, alarms, stopwatch, world clock, Pomodoro timer, and reminders
- Voice memos, calendar, and task-related functions
- Camera control on iOS
- Quick replies on Android
- Speaker and microphone functions for supported features
- Zepp Flow voice assistant in selected countries and regions
The microphone and speaker enable supported Bluetooth-phone features, but the available specifications do not establish LTE or independent phone service. Calling behavior can also depend on the phone, operating system, permissions, and regional software. Android quick replies and Zepp Flow should not be assumed to work identically for every user.
NFC payment support is not established in the reviewed Square specifications, so buyers should not purchase it expecting confirmed contactless payments.

The Square runs Zepp OS and can gain features after launch. An August 2025 update added six-level font-size control and a Jet Lag Manager, along with stability improvements.
To check for updates, keep the watch connected to your phone, then open the Zepp app and go to Device → Amazfit Active 2 (Square) → General → System Update. Labels can vary slightly by app version, language, region, or firmware.

Active 2 Square versus round Active 2
| Active 2 Square | Round Active 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Square | Round |
| Display | 1.75-inch AMOLED | 1.32-inch AMOLED |
| Launch U.S. price | $149.99 | $99.99 standard; $129.99 premium |
| Case size | 43.32 × 36.9 × 9 mm | Model-specific |
Choose the Square if you want more screen area for text, maps, and workout data or simply prefer the rectangular watch style. Choose the round model if a traditional watch appearance matters more or if its lower historical launch price is available. The two products should not be treated as identical apart from shape: they have different dimensions, strap bundles, pricing histories, and product listings.

- Square-watch fans: The large AMOLED panel is the defining reason to choose it over the round model.
- Fitness and running users: Built-in GPS, route following, workout modes, training tools, and recovery features cover a broad range of activities.
- Android and iPhone users: It supports both major phone platforms while avoiding nightly charging for many typical users.
- Durability-conscious buyers: Sapphire glass and a stainless-steel bezel add premium materials at a mid-budget price.
Who should skip it?
Look elsewhere if you need LTE or independent phone service, a deep third-party app ecosystem, confirmed NFC payments, or the strongest possible integration with an iPhone or Android phone. It is also a poor fit for anyone seeking medical-grade measurements or expecting heavy GPS use and always-on display to preserve the full 10-day estimate.
How to troubleshoot common problems
Battery life is much shorter than expected
- Check whether always-on display is enabled.
- Reduce brightness or shorten the screen timeout.
- Review automatic heart-rate and other health-measurement frequency.
- Reduce unnecessary notifications and screen wake-ups.
- Check how much continuous GPS, Bluetooth calling, or music use is involved.
- Update the Zepp app and watch firmware.
- Check for repeated Bluetooth disconnections and reconnection attempts.
Compare ordinary use with heavy GPS or always-on-display use before assuming the battery is defective.
Navigation does not work
Confirm that the route was imported before the workout and that the file is supported and valid. Poor satellite reception, incomplete synchronization, and the assumption that the watch will create any destination route independently can also explain the problem. Route following is not the same as unrestricted, standalone map-based navigation.
Health readings look inaccurate
Wear the watch snugly, above the wrist bone, and remain still during spot measurements. Cold skin, sweat, dirt, tattoos, movement, or poor contact can affect results. Use readings for trends and workout feedback, not diagnosis.
Calls or replies are unavailable
Check Bluetooth pairing, Zepp permissions, phone operating-system permissions, and platform support. A notification feature may not provide the same behavior as independent calling, and Android quick replies or Zepp Flow may be limited by phone, region, or software version.
